FINALLY!

On the thirteenth attempt, they finally gave me a lullaby.

Apparently my SimPage got hit by downraters. While all my stories and houses are all fine with good ratings, somehow my SimPage got knocked down to 1 star. This really amuses me since there's really nothing that downrating a SimPage can do. It's not like EAxis would remove a sim page for a low rating. I imagine most people don't even realize you can rate SimPages.

Anyway, I've only had little spurts of time to play the game. Every time I want to get into it, there's something else that comes up that I need to take care of. I might be going out of town this weekend, so that probably won't give me much time either, but we shall see.

Over the last few days, I have gotten to play Miranda's house. I'll refrain from mentioning the winner out in the open just in case someone hasn't read it yet and I don't feel like putting in a cut. I think most of you know, though. I finished up the house a little more, but only decorated the main areas. I'll finish out the rest of it as they earn money. They've tried for baby about nine times, but the lullaby remains elusive.

I started looking at the pictures I have set aside for 4.8. There are close to 1500 pictures in the folder (no thumbnails), but when I pulled what I knew I would use for 4.8, I had .. 24. Huh. This confused me.

When I thought about it, though, I realized I'd pretty much played up to Ian's death and then stopped. A couple of houses were played forward to the beginning of fall, but for the most part, they're all waiting for me to play. That's an odd feeling.

I'm thinking of just digging in and playing and shooting the plotty scenes in the dummy hood that I have set up. I'm a little worried that might be come too habit forming, but I really want to play. Shelby has been pregnant since May. Venus is pregnant (I think) and not showing. Louise is ready to grow up into a little girl. Jeremiah and Meadow have twins that I still haven't seen as toddlers yet.

It was like I finished the BC and eagerly stepped over to the main legacy and realized I had no idea what I needed to do next. It's good to see all my other sims again, though.

When I got this done and posted last night, I felt like falling over. This has been such a focus the past three months that I can't believe its finally done. I'm proud of how it turned out but grateful that it's done. There were a few points where I was almost ready to chuck the whole thing and walk away from it, but I'm glad I stuck with it.

Most of you that follow this journal heard the whining back in July when I was struggling with Day Two. It got easier once I was into the plotty end of things, but man.. I felt like I was never going to be able to finish this thing and get back to actually playing and writing the main legacy.

I've got lots of thoughts about the BC, but I'll save those for behind the cut.

First, though, inappropriate dining habits FTW!

Brody in all his sloppy werewolfness is my most common walkby at most of the lots. He quite happily lets himself in to his friends houses and makes use of strangers' garbage cans when he's feeling a bit peckish.

Now, on to the behind the scenes stuff!

Or.. 'Appearances Can Be Deceiving'... (50+ pictures) )

PART ONE!
PART TWO!

It's done.

Part One got posted last night because I couldn't wait any longer. Part Two got finished up tonight. It pretty much took me all day, but I kind of expected that. I'm really happy with the way it all turned out even if I wailed and moaned about it back in July.

Tomorrow I'll put together a 'Behind the Scenes', but tonight, I think I'm going to go curl up on the couch and watch some 'House'.

Okay, so it's going a little slower than I expected it to. Mostly because work has been unexpectedly busy. We've been working on a lot of disaster imagery from Post-Ike Texas. That all has to be out by the end of this week, so we've been scrambling. This means I don't get any time at work to putz around on personal stuff.

Still, I'm through about 30 slides of writing and its going fairly easily. I also had gaming canceled for Friday, which means I have both Friday and Saturday free. I'm hoping to have it up by Saturday. I really really want it done so I can start talking about it to people. I've almost slipped a couple of times in LJ conversation with people.

I'm thinking about doing that 'countdown' meme that I've seen a few folks do. It looks pretty awesome. In other news, I liked this.

I've got all the random stuff for Day Three shot, so I just need to get the plotty stuf together. I'd like to have it out by next Tuesday, but I'm not sure that will happen. I've got GenCon next week, so I'll be away from the computer from Tuesday night to Monday morning.

Warning: Sim Stuff Ahead

So, I've finally got Day One of the BC uploaded. Finally. Once I got past the initial writer's block, it was fairly easy to write. Hopefully the subsequent days will come easy as well.

To a certain degree, I've cheated like mad with this thing. The very first day, when I moved Miranda onto the lot, I set her relationship to 0/0 with all the bachelors. I didn't think it was fair that some of them would have an automatic leg up by the bonus 'roommate' relationship points they get when a new sim moves in.

Since I've been having a 'moving out' scene, what I've been doing is playing the lot to noon, then doing the move out scene. Then, after the loser moves out, I reset the clock back to noon and give everyone a maxmotives. I figure I'm 'stealing' time to do the staged scenes, I may as well make it up to them.

I played Day One back in March, so when I went into the lot yesterday, there'd been some decay on the relationships. I went into SimPE and fixed Miranda back to the same point with all the bachelors that she'd been at when I finished Day One. I plan on playing the rest of the days a bit quicker now, so hopefully that won't be a problem again.

I accidentally 'cheated' on the morning of the second day as well. I knew the first day was a free will day, but I thought before noon, she was supposed to have a chat with each of them. Actually, according to the rules, that's the next morning, not this one. Oh well, this just meant that the two low men weren't at 0/0.

For the most part, I think I did a good job showing the ways in which the various bachelors interacted with Miranda. Farnsworth is actually more outgoing than he's written, but it makes sense when you think of his lack of self-confidence. He's not shy, he's just unsure. Scott's actually not as shy as I wrote him either, but he's got the super nice factor in there. Either way, Free Will was pretty interesting to watch.

And, since I wanted to show it off, here's the house. )

I've finally gotten some actual writing done on the BC. It took some doing, but I finally found the tone I needed to get through the opening and the introductions.

I'd thought of it before it was suggested, but I ended up having the introductions narrarated by a couple of the background people. Basically, Devon Decker, the producer and his technical assistant, Annie.

The 'set' they're in has been set up for a while, I just wasn't sure I would use it this early.

As another bit of trivia, 'Devon' and 'Annie' are actually two Maxis sims that I gave makeovers to for this. When I needed Devon for the scene with Miranda, I didn't want to create a whole new sim to add to the game. So I grabbed this pre-made guy, gave him a makeover and a new 'name'. I decided to do the same thing when I needed his assistant.

Can anyone guess who they are?
