Warning: Sim Stuff Ahead
So, I've finally got Day One of the BC uploaded. Finally. Once I got past the initial writer's block, it was fairly easy to write. Hopefully the subsequent days will come easy as well.
To a certain degree, I've cheated like mad with this thing. The very first day, when I moved Miranda onto the lot, I set her relationship to 0/0 with all the bachelors. I didn't think it was fair that some of them would have an automatic leg up by the bonus 'roommate' relationship points they get when a new sim moves in.
Since I've been having a 'moving out' scene, what I've been doing is playing the lot to noon, then doing the move out scene. Then, after the loser moves out, I reset the clock back to noon and give everyone a maxmotives. I figure I'm 'stealing' time to do the staged scenes, I may as well make it up to them.
I played Day One back in March, so when I went into the lot yesterday, there'd been some decay on the relationships. I went into SimPE and fixed Miranda back to the same point with all the bachelors that she'd been at when I finished Day One. I plan on playing the rest of the days a bit quicker now, so hopefully that won't be a problem again.
I accidentally 'cheated' on the morning of the second day as well. I knew the first day was a free will day, but I thought before noon, she was supposed to have a chat with each of them. Actually, according to the rules, that's the next morning, not this one. Oh well, this just meant that the two low men weren't at 0/0.
For the most part, I think I did a good job showing the ways in which the various bachelors interacted with Miranda. Farnsworth is actually more outgoing than he's written, but it makes sense when you think of his lack of self-confidence. He's not shy, he's just unsure. Scott's actually not as shy as I wrote him either, but he's got the super nice factor in there. Either way, Free Will was pretty interesting to watch.

I built this quite a while ago, but at the time it was a struggle. I just wasn't sure what I wanted for the place. The first couple of bachelors actually lived on an empty lot while I tinkered with what I wanted for this. In the end, I'm pretty happy with it.

Here's the basement with some exercise bikes, the ballet bars, and the sauna. The door over there leads to a large bathroom with stalls and a communual shower. So far, Lance is the only one to use the ballet bar, but a couple of the guys used the bikes, which changed boltage in interesting ways. Dwight has used the sauna, but only briefly.

The requisite hot tubs. I decided to put them on the basement level rather than upstairs. I prefer the sunk-in tubs to the other ones, and these look funny on upper levels. I'm not happy with the lighting here, but it seems to work okay. I got some GREAT shots of the tub stuff for Day Two.

The hammocks, as mentioned by Dean. I had fun building stairs down to the beach. There's actually three of them. I don't think any of them have used this one, though.

Mostly they use this one. I think they prefer the straight stairs to the staggered ones. I love the way the spiral stairs look here. I don't think any of the guys have acutally used the spiral stairs, but they look fantastic.

The dining room. Not too much to say about this, other than I like the way the square 8-seat table works. This set is by SimPlanX, but snagged from the Booty. The chairs are HolySimoly, though.

The kitchen. No stove, so no autonomous cooking. Well, not much autonomous cooking. I found a discarded salad half made in the kitchen on the third morning. Luckily, with a few neat freak sims in the house, cleaning hasn't been an issue. Lance is the only slob (2), and Dean and Farnsworth are the next lowest (5). Miranda and Cecil both have 10 points, while Dwight and Scott have 7 each.

The main living room is just one giant, open air room. There's a stereo off to one side, a pool table to the other. There's also a dart board stuck under the stairs. There's the tv area, a bar (which I didn't photograph) and in the center of it all is 'Don't Wake the Llama'.

Here's the 'flirt suite'. It's technically a sitting room off of the master suite, but I'm figuring I'll use it as the area where Miranda tries out her flirts on the bachelors. I have to do a better job of keeping the others occupied, though. She's got stalkers that like to follow her everywhere. Cecil walked in on one of the other guys' flirts. Luckily there wasn't any jealousy to arouse quite yet.

Miranda's bedroom. There are some nice curtains on the windows, but it was too hard to get those in the shot.

Her bathroom. A couple of the guys are obsessed with baths, so I keep finding them in here.

The boys' rooms are all upstairs. Initially I'd built a dormitory type of area for them, with them all in the same room. I wans't liking how it was working, though, so I retuned it and made three shared rooms. Dean and Lipschitz! ended up in the purple room. Lance and Farnsworth had the blue room. Dwight, Scott, and Cecil are all sharing the yellow room.
You migth notice the telescope there. I would not be adverse to one of the guys getting themselves abducted. Unfortunately, none of them have gone for it yet. Too much to keep them interested elsewhere.

And here are the floorplan shots of the main level and the basement. The main level is a pretty simple layout. It's been working really well so far.
With the basement, I also have my area where I'm stashing all the various hacks/mods/tidbits I need. I discovered that updating the patch (which worked fine for me) reset everything on the lot. The first thing Farnsworth did was grab Miranda and start kissing her up the arm. Half the other guys also had ACR stuff queued. I exited without saving and when I went back in, I quickly turned off ACR autonomy. It will take a braver person than I to actually play a BC with that turned on.
So, there you have it. The house. :)

Date: 2008-06-02 02:55 am (UTC)If you want, I can dig up the name of a couple of creators on MTS2 whose bed covers I like. :) The Holy Simoly ones are to die for, though.

Date: 2008-06-01 09:41 pm (UTC)I'd have turned off ACR too. Can't imagine trying to play a BC with ACR.

Date: 2008-06-01 10:10 pm (UTC)I love the light green color scheme--so nice for a beach house. The layout looks really good, too. I think hot tubs on the basement level makes a lot more sense.
I think somebody once did a Bachelor Challenge with ACR, which I read when I was getting ready to do mine. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me--the BC kind of relies on Maxis "getting to know you" coding, and when ACR leapfrogs over all that. . .
I kind of wish I'd zeroed out the relationships when I set mine up. I'll never know what would have happened. The maxmotives probably changes a lot, because the first few days everybody tends to get tired before all the flirting stuff is over. Watch out for that autonomy! I was really, really lucky that Cassius and De did their stuff when nobody else was there.
And uh--Cecil is a stalker? Is that Cecil at the Don't Wake The Llama game on the first floor? Is he talking about lips?
Looking forward to the rest!

Date: 2008-06-02 03:00 am (UTC)I was pretty happy with the color scheme. It worked out really well.
As I told Doc Nerd above, I'm thinking of trying something with ACR in place, but it would have to be with some sims I don't care about. I may do it in a dummy neighborhood and just post it in LJ, just to se how it goes.
So far, the autonomy has just been friendship stalking. Oddly, Miranda has three crushes, but they're all one sided. So none of the boys are feeling romantic towards her yet. That will probably change in another day. I've basically played out Day Two and sent the next bachelor 'home'. I may try playing someo f Day Three tonight. I'm tempted to play it out and then write up the rest. I want to know who wins. :)
And uh.. yeah. Cecil is a stalker. He's not the worst one, but he's been stalking both Miranda and Dean a bit. Farnsworth and Dean are the worst stalkers, though. It lead to some interesting changes in the ranking.

Date: 2008-06-02 01:05 am (UTC)I don't know if you have a pond on the lot, but I highly recommend switching chess for fishing. Except that with your bunch, there's always the chance of a cheaty-angry moment... maybe that wouldn't be so good then.
