It's funny. Taylor founded the legacy and was behind the building of the main legacy house, but oddly, it's the Greek House I'm far more attached to emotionally. Today I started working on creating the new Sim State and transferring over the remodeled houses and community lots.

Before moving Whitney out of the Greek House so it could be moved, I went in and took a snapshot and a screencap of each portrait. Twenty-one in all. Twenty-one sims who have lived under that roof. Well, sorta. There was no roof when Taylor was there. You know what I mean, though.

Taylor Legacina - First Generation Founder

Charlie Thompson - First to Second Generation Placeholder

Zoey Legacina - Second Generation Heir

Victoria Legacina - Second Generation Spare

Genesis Turner - Second to Third Generation Placeholder

Brody Legacina - Third Generation Spare

Micah Legacina - Third Generation Spare

Persephone Legacina - Third Generation Heir

Adrian Thompson - Third Generation Cousin

Kyle Thompson - Third Generation Cousin

Comet Thompson - Third Generation Step-Cousin

Sophie Thopmson - Third Generation Adopted Cousin

Elijah Legacina - Fourth Generation Heir

Jeremiah Turner - Fourth Generation Cousin

Nathaniel Turner - Fourth Generation Cousin

Venus Walton - Fourth Generation Cousin

Aeric (Legacina) Walton - Fourth Generation Cousin (Sorta)

Ian Legacina - Fourth Generation Spare

Kiley Turner - Fourth Generation Cousin

Miranda Legacina - Fourth Generation Spare

Whitney Buckingham - Fourth to Fifth Generation Placeholder

Each picture (except Whitney's) is a Smustle pose. I set them to smustling and then just freeze it at what seems like an appropriate point. The portraits for the main house are mixed up a bit more with different poses, but the smustle pic is a tradition for the Greek House.

Since there really doesn't need to be a placeholder from Fourth To Fifth, Whitney will go back to being a cheerleader. I'm not sure whether to include her portrait or not. I'm still debating that one.

I never made a formal announcement here, but I did make a note about it over on Boolprop. For those that don't already know, Elijah and Louise's character files became corrupt and I think the probelm goes back a ways. So, the hood is getting rebuilt. It couldn't have happened at a better time. It'll delay the next update, but it's a good point to make the switch.

I'm hoping this weekend to actually start CASing in the sims and getting them all set up. When I've had time recently, I've been working on getting the terrains set up and the community lots set up.

For the main hood, I've smoothed out the roads and placed all the empty houses I wanted to keep. I've also moved over all the owned businesses. I had the owners sell them in the original hood and then dumped them in the lot bin. They all fit in nicely back in the business district I had set up in the terrain.

Downtown was a bit of a bear at first. I wanted a beach lot available, so I'm using the Desiderata Valley terrain. Unfortunately, the initial run through showed that I had a blank template still set up and none of the traditional downtownies spawned. The terrain was also too low, so all the lots looked like they were flooded. I killed the whole hood and started over again. This time, before I placed lots, I raised up the terrain except for the beach lots. It's working much better now. Two clicks on the [ key and no more flooded basements.

With Sim State, I've got all the remodeled uni lots placed back down. I'm debating what I want to do about dorms. I remodeled all of them pretty extensively, but I'm still not happy with all of them. I may just build a whole new dorm to use as my base model. We'll see.

That's where things stand right now. It's slow going and I wish I had more time to devote to it, but it's coming along. I'm hoping to actually be able to play a little over Thanksgiving so I can get everyone caught up to where they're supposed to be.

It's always nice to see little recaps like these. And it's amazing how far this has gone; I remember before I was even aware of the legacy challenge that I was reading it, exactly one year ago. Look how far it's gone :D

I'm sorry about the error; my heiress just had an error herself, so I'm rebuilding my neighborhood as well. The game has been a bit buggy for me recently :( Good luck!

I'm glad you have a plan for the rebuild. It seems so much less crazy when you break it down into manageable pieces.

Not that there's ever a GOOD time to rebuild, but this does seem like as good a time as any, what with demolishing your Legacy lot anyway.

That's quite the parade of portraits. *sniffle* Ian...

I don't know that I have a plan so much as a general idea of what to do next. I wanted to make sure I was happy with the hoods themselves before I actually started adding any sims to the mix. :)

I do keep bopping back and forth between getting info on my sims and working on the hoods and community lots.

Yea I read over at boolprop that this had happened. I'm glad to see it hasn't gotten you down. We will all be waiting patience (or not) ;) for your return.

I love all the pics. Just like walking down memory lane.

BTW: how do you know when a file becomes "corrupt"?

I kept getting an error trying to log into the Legacina lot. When I got in, Elijah was invisible and Louise was .. very different. Looking in SimPE, I discovered their portraits were red background Mr. Potato Head icons. That means a shredded file.

Ah ha. Well that explains it.
So when something like that happens then, you must re-build the whole hood? Sounds complicated. :(

I've had a couple of glitches lately, so thats why I was asking. Thanks!

Awwww, these are so nice.

Sounds like you have everything under control which is good to hear. Good luck with everything else.

I've actually been doing the portraits in the Greek House for a very long time. I've got portraits of about the same number of sims from my first neighborhood. I still have that hood backed up in case I ever decide I want to play it again. I probably won't, but still. It's there if I want it. :)

Sounds like everything is moving forward :)

I'm still working on redoing my portraits, I wasn't all that happy with some of the earlier ones so I didn't attempt to save them all. My placeholder spent all of her junior year at the Greek House painting.

I'll probably be redoing the generational kid portraits I've got of each generation. I wasn't happy with gen 3, and gen 2 was just a stop gap because I didn't think of it soon enough. Other than that, I'm happy with the portraits I've got. I'm glad I hadn't done Elijah and Shelby's yet, though. :)

So many portraits! I'm glad everything is moving along without too much trouble.

Your situation has got me considering a preemptive rebuild once my latest plot arc is finished up. At the very least, I sure would like to get rid of Bluewater Village. I never use it except for one beach lot. If I do it, I will definitely be stealing your downtown with beach lots idea.

I only added a business distract to get the beach lots for the BC. I decided against addign Blue Water because I wasn't a fan of any of the pre-built business lots and I didn't need more Maxis playables. Now with 'Lostundo State Beach' in the downtown hood, I'm pretty much all set for the main community lots I need. Anything else I can fit pretty easily.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you. Is Aaron Emily's natural born son or adopted son? I can't remember and I keep forgetting to go check. :)

Aaron is her adopted son - the first child she adopted, actually. Alex is her only natural born child. :)

I think I initially used the Desiderata Valley template the first time I tried to recreate the Morgans just recently. It made me laugh, because I'm planning for Lucy and Stephen to live in one of your houses- the name is slipping my mind atm, but it's something about craftsmen, I think?- and it's got such a nice basement, but because of the beach neighborhood the basement was completely flooded. They were walking around down there up to their necks in water.

The Desiderata template works great if you raise the majority of it up by two clicks. If you have FT or later installed, it should work fine. I just highlighted a stretch of road (just the road to start with) and raised it up two clicks. Then I used that to go around the rest of the roads and flatten them with the \ key. AFter that, I went around and smoothed the land between the roads. Most of the downtown lots I have are already flat, so they fit in pretty nicely.

I left the road along the beach lower, so there's a slight slope leading down to it, but it should be fine. I was able to fit four lots on the beach. The biggest for 'Lostundo State Beach', and then a smaller one for a pier, and two more for residential lots.

Now it's just a matter of deciding how I want everything laid out. Right now I've got a 'nightclub' row that has all the hot spots. There's also a street of shops. I'm not 100% happy with it, but it's getting there.

Out of curiosity, are you going to fix the Shelby-genetics problem in the kids (and her, for that matter) before doing the rebuild? Since we've only seen Louise as a toddler and Oz as a baby, it seems like as good a time as any, though I don't know how many pictures you've taken of them as kids/toddlers that you want to use.

I had actually already fixed Louise and Oz's genetics before I discovered the shredded character files. D'oh!

As far as Shelby goes, I discovered that the template fix I have works on new sims generated with that face template. The problem with Shelby was that she was generated BEFORE I put the fix in.

So, the new Shelby will already be fixed and the new Louise and Oz will also have their new genetics. The third baby will be 'remade' in the hood the old fashioned way. :)

It brings back such nice memories to see all those portraits together.

It's too bad that you have to do all that work. At least you don't totally have to redo the businesses--I mean, rebuild them, of course. Are you going to re-buy them and re-cheat them up to Level 10? Can you cheat a business to Level 10?

I'll be playing your Simself's house again soon, since Sextus needs to age up. And also, I hope some toddler and kid pictures will cheer you up!

Toddler and kid pictures would absolutely cheer me up. I can't wait to see what they look like. Or what my simself is up to with her hubby. I imagine they're having a lot of pillow fights. :)

I'm sure there's a way to cheat the businesses to level ten. Honestly, I'll probably only have Matthew buy two of them back - H&S Furniture and Legour Couture. The clothing store because it was the first and it's handy to do makeovers, and the furniture store because it's a hell of a money maker. I'll leave Total Pwnage for Miranda to buy since it should have gone to her anyway. I sold Persey's Pastries a long time ago and Cabana Botanical was supposed to go to Ian. I'm not sure what's going to happen to it now.
