The House That Taylor Built
Nov. 20th, 2008 04:23 pmIt's funny. Taylor founded the legacy and was behind the building of the main legacy house, but oddly, it's the Greek House I'm far more attached to emotionally. Today I started working on creating the new Sim State and transferring over the remodeled houses and community lots.
Before moving Whitney out of the Greek House so it could be moved, I went in and took a snapshot and a screencap of each portrait. Twenty-one in all. Twenty-one sims who have lived under that roof. Well, sorta. There was no roof when Taylor was there. You know what I mean, though.

Whitney Buckingham - Fourth to Fifth Generation Placeholder
Each picture (except Whitney's) is a Smustle pose. I set them to smustling and then just freeze it at what seems like an appropriate point. The portraits for the main house are mixed up a bit more with different poses, but the smustle pic is a tradition for the Greek House.
Since there really doesn't need to be a placeholder from Fourth To Fifth, Whitney will go back to being a cheerleader. I'm not sure whether to include her portrait or not. I'm still debating that one.
I never made a formal announcement here, but I did make a note about it over on Boolprop. For those that don't already know, Elijah and Louise's character files became corrupt and I think the probelm goes back a ways. So, the hood is getting rebuilt. It couldn't have happened at a better time. It'll delay the next update, but it's a good point to make the switch.
I'm hoping this weekend to actually start CASing in the sims and getting them all set up. When I've had time recently, I've been working on getting the terrains set up and the community lots set up.
For the main hood, I've smoothed out the roads and placed all the empty houses I wanted to keep. I've also moved over all the owned businesses. I had the owners sell them in the original hood and then dumped them in the lot bin. They all fit in nicely back in the business district I had set up in the terrain.
Downtown was a bit of a bear at first. I wanted a beach lot available, so I'm using the Desiderata Valley terrain. Unfortunately, the initial run through showed that I had a blank template still set up and none of the traditional downtownies spawned. The terrain was also too low, so all the lots looked like they were flooded. I killed the whole hood and started over again. This time, before I placed lots, I raised up the terrain except for the beach lots. It's working much better now. Two clicks on the [ key and no more flooded basements.
With Sim State, I've got all the remodeled uni lots placed back down. I'm debating what I want to do about dorms. I remodeled all of them pretty extensively, but I'm still not happy with all of them. I may just build a whole new dorm to use as my base model. We'll see.
That's where things stand right now. It's slow going and I wish I had more time to devote to it, but it's coming along. I'm hoping to actually be able to play a little over Thanksgiving so I can get everyone caught up to where they're supposed to be.
