For the first time in .. well.. ever, I'm unenthused about putting up a Christmas Tree. I went out this afternoon with the intention of going to the store then stopping somewhere and getting a tree to bring back to the apartment. Somewhere between wandering the store and getting back to the car, I decided to not get a Christmas Tree this year.

I don't know whether I'm being lazy or I'm just feeling blah about the season. It's not like I"m dreading Christmas. There's definitely stuff I'm looking forward to, but all the stuff that usually gets me excited is more or less 'bleh' this year. Decorating, cookie baking, gift buying.. I'm just not getting into it. Maybe part of it is that there'll be no one other than me and the roommate to enjoy the decorating this year (no parties here). Maybe it's that I don't have any really spectacular ideas for gifts for anyone. Maybe it's just that I'm lazy.

Ah well. Maybe I just need a year off, so to speak, to recharge. As a really sad note, I realized that I could send out the Christmas cards I filled out last year and never mailed. :)

Again, it's been /way/ too long since we've talked!! But I hear you. I can't understand how people DON'T need a break from Christmas stuff every once in a while. Then again, the only time I get excited about the season is when I'm around/dealing with others who're REALLY into it. ;)

I guess I could fit into the lazy category!

It has been way too long. :) I've heard there's been some big changes in store for you as of late, but it's sounded like it's mostly good stuff. :)

Lots and lots! You should email me at some point, and we can actually catch up! Or catch me on AIM or something! It's all in my profile. :)

I've been pretty happy to go elsewhere for Christmas for the past couple of years--because I haven't had to decorate at all. It seems more effort than it's worth unless (like lcanady said) you're REALLY into it.

The Christmas tree really revives when you have a child just old enough to enjoy it. It's a wonder to her that the lights are on in the morning when she gets up and the tree is all sparkly. You get to look at everything in a new light, and this year for the first time in about eight years, I had enough energy to go beyond just the Christmas tree and put garlands around the house and drag out all my dusty figurines and music boxes for the season. :)

Happy Holidays. Don't let the decorating get you down!

Usually I am REALLY into it. I've always been a nut about decorating for Christmas. While I don't have any kids of my own, I've been able to co-op some of that joy and wonder from my best friends' kids (three girls, currently 7, 4, and 2). They pouted at me today that I wasn't putting up a Christmas tree, but I let them help me put up some of my other decorations. :)

Ah well. I still love the holidays. Next year I'll probably go crazy and get all into it again.

You have a great holiday too. :)

I'm fairly blah about Christmas this year as well. Generally I don't get excited unless I'm around someone that's really into it, but even my sister in law this year just seems middling excited.

My nephew and niece have hit ages where they no longer go starry eyed over everything and their lists consist of clothing and gift cards for games and music rather than fun stuff. They'll be off to their Mom's family for Christmas and my Dad and step Mom are going to Texas so I won't be going home. I've been invited both places but logistically and financially this isn't a good year for traveling. I'll be hanging with friends here in town, it'll be a different type of fun.

I'm kinda looking forward to taking a year off, if only we'd get some snow. Not likely but I can hope :)

You can have some of my snow. It's been snowing quite a bit since Thanksgiving, and today we're getting a good 10" or so.

Ah well. :)
