Sim Stuff - HS Furniture Outlet
Nov. 5th, 2007 02:30 pmWell, my website is finally fixed, so I can post pictures and stuff again.
Sim conversations behind the cut:
As some of you know, I'm working on one of the worst LTW's in the game. Whoever decided to add this with OFB needs to be shot. Three would have been a much more reasonable and achievable number in a normal sim's lifespan. If it weren't for the fact that sims don't age on business lots, Matthew would be long in his grave by now.
I was working hard on Total Pwnage, but it really wasn't going up the ranks very quickly. I know some people swear by ticket businesses, but I actually had more trouble with Cabana Botanical and this one. Don't get me wrong, I like the Cabana, but it took a while to get up to level 10. Legour Couture was hard but that's because I didn't know any of the OFB stuff. In the end, I think it's still my favorite business. Persey's Pastries was easy.
I got Total Pwnage to level 7 and decided I needed a break. So, I opened the fifth business: HS Furniture Outlet.

Yep.. it's a furniture store selling mostly Holy Simoly furniture. I took a look at what I had in my downloads and realized I had more than enough Holy Simoly stuff to create a store around. I had a lot of fun designing this one to look like a real furniture store, with little displays and everything. The only stuff in there that's not Holy Simoly are the paintings, one coffee table, and the beds (for some reason, I couldn't find the Holy Simoly beds in my catalog when I was setting this up).
Ultimately, this was the easiest business I've EVER run. It took me about four hours from when they first set foot on the property to when it was level 10. It cost about $175k to buy it and get it set up. This left the family with about $20k. When I stopped after reaching level 10, they were back up to $120k easily. If I'd left it open for another couple of sim days, I'd have easily cracked $200k. I think when I'm done with this stupid LTW, I will keep this business and the clothing store in the family. Miranda will get Total Pwnage, and Ian will probably get the Cabana. I'll just sell Persy's Pastries. It was cute, but it wasn't a real moneymaker and it's too much work to keep on top of the baking.
Another little funny tidbit.. Miranda rolled up a want to hire Robin the moment they set foot in the place and she WOULDN'T drop it.

Robin, you now have a silver cashire's badge, and you're best friends with Miranda. You're the total awesomesauce in her opinion.
Oh... as you can see in the picture of Robin, I also got the 'Best of the Best' award with this building. Yay me!

Of course, I keep thinking I want a clean start, then remember how hard it is to get all the downloads I DO want back. :}
