Well, my website is finally fixed, so I can post pictures and stuff again.

Sim conversations behind the cut:

As some of you know, I'm working on one of the worst LTW's in the game. Whoever decided to add this with OFB needs to be shot. Three would have been a much more reasonable and achievable number in a normal sim's lifespan. If it weren't for the fact that sims don't age on business lots, Matthew would be long in his grave by now.

I was working hard on Total Pwnage, but it really wasn't going up the ranks very quickly. I know some people swear by ticket businesses, but I actually had more trouble with Cabana Botanical and this one. Don't get me wrong, I like the Cabana, but it took a while to get up to level 10. Legour Couture was hard but that's because I didn't know any of the OFB stuff. In the end, I think it's still my favorite business. Persey's Pastries was easy.

I got Total Pwnage to level 7 and decided I needed a break. So, I opened the fifth business: HS Furniture Outlet.

Yep.. it's a furniture store selling mostly Holy Simoly furniture. I took a look at what I had in my downloads and realized I had more than enough Holy Simoly stuff to create a store around. I had a lot of fun designing this one to look like a real furniture store, with little displays and everything. The only stuff in there that's not Holy Simoly are the paintings, one coffee table, and the beds (for some reason, I couldn't find the Holy Simoly beds in my catalog when I was setting this up).

Ultimately, this was the easiest business I've EVER run. It took me about four hours from when they first set foot on the property to when it was level 10. It cost about $175k to buy it and get it set up. This left the family with about $20k. When I stopped after reaching level 10, they were back up to $120k easily. If I'd left it open for another couple of sim days, I'd have easily cracked $200k. I think when I'm done with this stupid LTW, I will keep this business and the clothing store in the family. Miranda will get Total Pwnage, and Ian will probably get the Cabana. I'll just sell Persy's Pastries. It was cute, but it wasn't a real moneymaker and it's too much work to keep on top of the baking.

Another little funny tidbit.. Miranda rolled up a want to hire Robin the moment they set foot in the place and she WOULDN'T drop it.

Robin, you now have a silver cashire's badge, and you're best friends with Miranda. You're the total awesomesauce in her opinion.

Oh... as you can see in the picture of Robin, I also got the 'Best of the Best' award with this building. Yay me!

Wow, that store looks amazing! I love how you designed it and set it up. It's a GREAT idea.

I agree with you on the businesses, too. I've never done well with the ticket businesses at all, but give my Sims anything to sell, and they do great.

I'm just waiting for the day I get a Sim with that LTW, too. I've never gotten it in my legacy, but I know I can't be lucky enough to escape it when I still have four generations to go!

Ugh, I agree with you on the ticket businesses being harder than anything else. I've just gotten one of them to level 10 myself, and my next business... well, it was going to be a ticket business, but now I'm rethinking that.

I love the layout, as well! It reminds me of IKEA, only with nicer furniture (not that I'm knocking Ikea - half of my furniture comes from there!)

The pictures of it don't do it justice in my opinion. It was hard for me to get a good angle for pictures. Ah well. It was fun to build and fun to actually play, which is why it will be staying in the family.

You'll get it sooner or later. It seems to show up for fortune or popularity sims. I'd say you've been lucky so far for it to not have shown up. At least you've got an idea of how to do businesses. I'd ignored it completely until I decided to give Matthew's LTW a serious shot.

I need to go back to Holy Simoly and redownload things. *sigh* Stupid loss of downloads. Why you make my life so complicated, computer?!

Ah, but Holy Simoly is so worth it. :)

And look at it this way, De... With a loss of your downloads, you get a clean slate to start with and you can keep all the stuff you're unsure about out. Of course, I keep thinking I want a clean start, then remember how hard it is to get all the downloads I DO want back. :}

Hahaha, that's cute. Holy Simoly is the only place I have any CC objects from, now.

Your building skillz terrify me with their amazing amazingness. D:

Holy Simoly is almost the only place you NEED to download any cc objects from. After doing this, though, I think I'd like to see them do some more bedroom sets. They really only have two. I think I may suggest this to them.

And my building skillz aren't that terrifying. It's just a slightly hollowed out foundation. :)

Ooo that looks sweet!

Business's that sell stuff are so much easier to raise stars with than venues. The only way I've made venues work is if you include things in them that will lock in a customer for hours (bubble blower, poker, hot springs). I think that like everything else business stars are somehow based on relationship points, and successful sales socials give those points pretty quickly.

I've always thought that the LTW was off kilter, they should have done something like earn x number of customer stars, earn all business/crafting badges, own a business worth x, or max all perks.

I think I'm going to cheat with Total Pwnage and temporarily turn it into a selling stuff business before turning it back into a venue. It's going to be Miranda's when she's an adult and she'll enjoy it for the socialization aspects and by then won't care about it needing levels or stars.

I definitely agree with you on the LTW. I think you can get max all perks in about 3 top level businesses. I know Matthew's sitting on a ton of unused perk points now. I also would like to have seen a max all badges type of want. It would fit more with the max all skills want.
