No holiday themes here. Yet. I've been loving the holiday photoshoots that everyone has been doing, but I haven't quite found the time to put something together yet. It's been a crazy busy time of the year, but that's generally expected about now, isn't it?

For the first time in six years, my dad is going to get to spend Christmas Day/Eve with my brother and I. It's also the first time he'll be staying with me while he's up here, so I've been trying to make sure the apartment is as presentable as possible. I want to make this as nice as possible.

In sim type news, I've been plugging away at getting Chapter 4.9 together. There were a lot more pictures I needed to get than I originally realized. Partially because I didn't take the pictures I needed and partially because I decided I wanted to reshoot certain scenes. There's also been some little stuff to continue doing with the rebuild.

"Uh, who are you and why are you giving me presents?"

Redoing the portraits really was easy. I went into an older version of the hood and took a full screen screencap of the portrait. Y'know, the 'Print Screen' button rather than an in-game snapshot. I dropped that image into Photoshop and then just saved the cropped version in the appropriate folder. My simself became the painting mule. It wasn't too hard to get through the six main house portraits I needed.

Of course, I noticed a problem after I put them up. Take a close look at Professor Kelly, Zoey and Christian's urns. The aspiration symbol is wrong. They're all showing as family when they were anything but. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? What can be done to fix it?

And while I'm thinking about it, why do urns ALWAYS float? It bugs me that they do that.

One of the houses I had to reshoot scenes at was Miranda and Dean's house. I changed Miranda's outfit when she got pregnant and in my detail oriented, procrastinating way, I decided that I needed to make sure my continuity was solid! So I had to reshoot a bunch of pictures to fit that new outfit. Yay craziness!

Of course, when Miranda and Dean were trying for baby, there weren't really any babies trying to follow their parents around. You can see Ash trying to 'follow Dean' there.

"This is weird, isn't it? I mean, how could this not be a little weird. Not that I object to weird, but this is domestic weird which is out of my league."

While I was there, I had Miranda and Dean take a moment to potty train the twins. Miranda with her outgoing points decided there was no reason to wait for Ava and Dean to be finished before she took her turn to prove she was potty trained as well.

This is from a scene that will be in the next update, but I just needed to share one of the pictures. They just make me so happy watching them together.

Friday night I lost the internet and cable, and I really just wanted to play for a bit. So, I headed over to Sim State to play Alpha and Beta a little bit. I hadn't gotten them too far into Uni in the old hood, but I had them at least through their first semester.

I'm still debating how I want to handle non-main generation kids. Up until now, I've pretty much been able to put everyone through college at the Greek House. Everyone who's been through (except Aeric) has been a first cousin of the main family. Alpha and Beta are the first second cousins in. Well, technically they're not even related to the main line since they've only got Charlie's blood, but still. You know what I mean.

I always confuse Alpha for a pop sim, but he's actually Fortune/Pop. The only want of his that I could fulfill right away was the 'Earn $100'. So, he got to spend time working in the cafeteria.

Gotta wonder how he gets all that hair so neatly up under the hat...

PARKER PARKER!

Actually, this reminded me that I haven't adjusted any of the names in Sim State yet. There aren't too many I'll want to change, but there are a few: Parker Parker, Whitney Buckingham (cheerleader), Xavier Bear, Kenya Jeffries, Lacie Maz... er... Christa Kearney. The rest probably weren't mentioned often enough to really need to be 'fixed'. Can you think of any Sim State sims that I MUST fix besides the ones I've mentioned?

Talk about diametrically opposed sims.

Beta is Knowledge/Romance, and he was rolling up a want for a date. The Crystal Ball showed the Good Witch here as one of his high boltage options. What the heck, I figured I'd summon her and see how they got along.

Beta is an odd sim. He likes his romance secondary, but he's also lazy. So he'd chat for a little bit, maybe throw a flirt or two, then go lay down on the couch. This left the Good Which (whose name I've forgotten) to fend for herself against the cow mascot.

"Yummy! Kraft Macaroni and Cheese!"

I also discovered how to have a cat on a Uni lot. Glinda here summoned her familiar. The familiar immediately decided to partake of the cafeteria food. Half the residents in the dorm were lining up to hold, snuggle, play with, and whatever else the familiar, but the cat was much more interested in the food.

The cafeteria seemed completely complacent and unconcerned about any health code violations that might be broken.

I also decided to pop into the Thompson household for a bit. I wanted to get them into private school and get Orlando and Sophie into their careers. Savannah, being a family sim, was desperate for a first kiss. Unfortunately, I forgot that with ACR, the matchmaker doesn't care about ages when she drops a date. This also reminded me that I needed to reset my global overrides on ACR. I'm sorry kids, but no teen woohoo allowed and definitely no more adult/teen interactions.

"I'm gonna tell mom!"

You do that, Austin. Right after you send Color Blind Man home. For the most part, I like these outfits from AL, but some of the combinations make me giggle. Purple plaid pants, green and pink Hawaiin shirt, and an orange jacket. WINNAR!

Having learned my lesson, I used Two Jeff's crystal ball to summon a date for Raleigh.

As you can see, she needs to work a little bit on her wooing technique.

Interestingly, Raleigh actually came up bi this time around. I randomized gender preference in the hood when I was playing the twins in college. Alpha came up as bi as well, but he's already leaning towards girls over guys. Since Raleigh is a romancer, I set her preference high, so she's likely to keep enjoying both genders. I should probably check my other single sims and make sure they came up with what they're supposed to have. If a sim is in a relationship already, ACR marks their preference towards that gender, so there's no chance of a married couple suddenly not liking their partner's gender.

Anyway, that's all for today. It's looking more and more likely I won't have an update ready to go by Christmas, but it should still be before the new year. I want to get out at least one more update before the end of the year. :)

I enjoyed the picspam a great deal. Elijah, that's voice not one of Kristial's minions, you can trust her. :D

Your description of color-blind man and his outfits reminded me of Al from Quantum Leap.

Yay picspam! Miranda and Dean and Ash and Ava are so cute!

About the Family Sim Urn thing--did you use InSim to adjust their ages? For whatever reason, when you do that, it turns everyone into a Family Sim. Most of the time, you don't even notice it until you realize that Sims who should be wanting to jump on couches and light fires want weddings and babies, or you kill them and realize the urn is wrong.

Yeah, I talked with Ndainye and figured it was the fact that I aged them up with InSim. As painful as it's going to be, I'll resurrect them all, age them down with InSim, then age them back up using the SimBlender. Then kill them off again. I'll be in for another round of wailing sims, but hopefully it'll fix the issue. NO way should Zoey be labeled a family sim.

All you have to do is resurrect them, switch their Aspiration to what it's supposed to be, and re-kill them. If you change their ages with InSim, they'll end up Family Sims no matter what. If all you want is the right icon on the urn, resurrect, correct Aspiration, Death by Old Age.

Yay for picspam.

It's nice to see all the portraits back. I love Dean and Miranda together, I'm glad he won the BC.

The familiar sounds like a typical cat then if it was more interested in food than people. :P

I was pretty delighted with the familiar. The last time I saw one, it looked kind of insubstantial. This one looked like a full on cat, just... sparkly. I loved that it hopped up on the counter and chowed down on the mac and cheese.

Yay picspam!

It's great to see everything coming together in the hood again. I'm glad that you got the portraits back easily. Dean and Miranda are adorable and I can't wait to see more about them and the twins in the update.

I loved your description of Color Blind Man's outfit. There are definitely a couple questionable color combinations in the new clothes.

I do like those obnoxiously colored outfits, but they'd have to be for the right sim. I wouldn't mind a couple of sanely recolored versions. Still colorful with patterns, but actually looking good, y'know?

Yay picspam!

I just can't wait till AL comes out for Mac. (I am back to hoping it will.) The Good Witch and their familiar--let's put it this way; my simself is going to become one ASAP. I didn't know the familiars ate, though I hear they don't age.

Oopsie doodle on the ACR.

I think there is a fix for the urns floating on MATY. Pescado was mentioning this at one point: it's in the Director's Cut only. For some reason, only plat urns float.

Take your time on the next episode. It's more important to enjoy your time with your father.

I really do hope they come out with the other EPs for Mac. It's just silly not to, especially when they've got a market just waiting for them.

I'll take a look at the director's cut and see if I can find it.

Huh. I couldn't find it in the Director's Cut. At least, I couldn't find anything with 'urn' in the name. :}

Sunday Picspam! Win!

Oh Dean and Miranda! You two make me consistently melt a little bit inside, particularly when paired with the AL coupley interactions.

I consistently forget to reset my ACR options after installing a new EP. Last time I didn't notice until two teens were naked in bed. In hace I may have completely forgotten since installing AL again. Thanks for the reminder.

The two naked teens in bed was how I found out the last time I needed to reset the globals. Funnily enough, it was also with a Thompson kid. Last time it was Charlotte with her boyfriend, the teen Ottomas boy.

Yay for picspam!

I always forget to fix my ACR globals until I'm x-ing out actions. If you remove the teen adult attraction mod then the gypsy will stop dropping adults and ACR won't allow adult/teen relationships. I haven't really found a reason to have the teen-adult attraction mod if you don't want teen-adult relationships.

Huh. Y'know, I never thought of pulling that one. It does make sense, though. In regular game play, I don't want teens and adults interacting romantically. I might for some plot purpose down the road, but I can always put it back in at that point.

What wonderful picspam! :D
