This is just an FYI for the simming folks that read this journal. For those of you concerned about InSim going the way of the dodo, there is an alternative out there.

The Sim Blender by TwoJeffs.

I think it's a little clunkier to use than InSim, but he just added a wholes lew of family options that let you do even more family linkage than InSim does. He's got a few very neat options on there if you can get used to using the menus. I don't like how it forced me to scroll through the entire neighborhood's worth of sims to do what I wanted, but I do appreciate the options it offers.

WOW. Thank you! I've been told this is better, and it certainly has some shinies I wanted, but the one thing it didn't seem to have before was the family stuff, and of course that's what I needed most. If the family thing had been available before, I might have been able to set Flavius and Publius as cousins without killing everybody like that!

I think I will test drive this in my challenge neighborhood. Originally I wanted Uranium to be Secundus' aunt, but stuff got busted out of CAS and there were inappropriate heartfarts between Rhys and Uranium, and the upshot was that she wound up being Cypress wife and Rhys' mom. Which made a wrong situation even wronger.

Apparently you still have to do the parent/child connection to actually get the family tree to show up correctly, but other than that, sims will be marked as family to one another if you use the other settings.

It does look very shiny. I was really excited about the renaming features, but I found them really difficult to use since you have to scroll through an entire list of sims in the hood to do what you want.
