I'm still being very careful, but I think Malwarebytes did the trick. It took three hours to run, but it caught 49 items and restarted to delete on reboot what it couldn't get originally. I did a Spybot scan after that, and all the Virtumonde stuff seems to be completely gone.

I'm betting it was one of the ads on TSR. I was having no problems with the downloads and the issues didn't start until I went to look at an item on TSR. I got a couple of anti-virus warnings and everything went downhill after that.

Malwarebytes is awesome. It did the trick for me, too, when my computer got all virus-y. Glad it seems to have worked for you, too!

I have not heard of Malwarebytes before, but I'll check it out. :)

I have been using Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster and Spyware Search and Destroy. :)

Not to mention PC Tools Firewall Plus and my Avast! Antivirus. Had very little trouble.

Congrats, Orikes! I just got rid of a Virtumonde thing as well. It's very f***ing annoying with it sending spam to everyone you know on MSN and then when your internet provider notices it and shuts down your connection until you call in and apologize...

Anyways, congrats and I hope it doesn't come back again.
