Well... Damn.
Dec. 5th, 2004 03:19 amWell, on Friday I was laid off.
Against the owner's instructions, the girl who interviewed me had warned me that it would probably happen. We'd even seen the signs that it might be coming soon. It still sucks major moose balls that he did it the very first week of December without any warning whatsoever. I almost wish I had hated the job so it's easier to leave it behind, but I really liked what I was doing.
One of the worst things is having to tell everyone in my life. Even though this is no fault of my own, I'm still going to get that, "Tsk, you lost a job again" atttitude from people. I can honestly say I worked my ass off for this job, and it didn't make a bit of difference. I'll still get the disappointed sigh from those who've watched me struggle through the last three years.
The good news is that I do have a new graphic design bit to add to my resume, but that somewhat pales in comparison to the lack of income, the possibility that I won't be eligible for Unemployment, that it'll still be tough to find a job in this market, and the bills I had started making headway on are going to just get ugly again.
Bah. Part of me wishes I'd had the balls to say one last thing to the owner: "Merry Fucking Christmas to you too, you selfish, stingy, shortsighted bastard."
