Happy Halloween!
Oct. 31st, 2008 04:46 pmHappy Halloween everyone!
It's rare that I don't have to work on Halloween. Tonight I'm headed over to a friends house for dinner. There'll be a bunch of us there, including my other friends' three daughters. Good food, good people. Yay.
I don't have any cool Halloween themed photoshoots of my sims, but I have been working on the next update. I'd guess I'm about halfway done with the scenes I need to shoot. I've got all day tomorrow to play around with (well, except for going to JC Penney and trying to get a missing wash cloth replaced - it's on the receipt, but wasn't in the bag when I got home), so I should be able to get most of it shot.
It's definitely going to be a two-parter. The slides I've got put together now come in at about 85, and as I said, I'm about halfway done. I'm sure I'll winnow out some slides as I write it and decide I can be more economical, but it's still going to be too big for one update.
I'm really anxious to get it out the door, partially because I want to hear what people think about it, and partially because I want to get moving onto other things. I think once I'm done with this, I'll have most of what I need for 4.9, but I'll still want to play everyone through to winter before I post that.

These are all non-spoilery pictures from 4.8 that I am NOT using. You can speculate based on what you see in them, but I don't think anything is a particularly big spoiler.
Now for the sneak peek...

A week or so ago, I played the Thayer house a little bit and Jeremiah and Meadow's youngest twins, Aaron and Noah, grew into toddlers. Aaron is the black haired one while Noah is the brown haired one. Both of them are absolutely adorable in my opinion.
Since I discovered the joys of the simDNA cheat, I've been poking around a bit. I discovered that Nathaniel and Jeremiah are both black/brown when it comes to hair, but Kiley is actually brown/blond. There was a chance that she could have a blond baby with Julie, but none of Jere's boys had a chance at being blond.
I also decided to take a peek at my presents, so to speak, and I grew up all the kids in the dummy hood I'm using to shoot the plotty scenes. Kiley and Julie's daughter isn't as completely face-one as I thought she would be. All of Jeremiah's boys look a little bit different from one another. I think it's clear that they're brothers, but each one inherited some unique features.
Anyway, I need to get moving, but I felt the need to post. I hope everyone has a fun, safe Halloween. And in the case of the Prof, a happy birthday. :)

Have fun at your dinner!

Date: 2008-11-01 05:43 am (UTC)I love the 'spin' interaction between adults and kids. You have to be a little careful with it since the kids can puke afterwards if you let it go for too long, but I remember doing that as a kid, so it's fun seeing it in game.

Great pictures, and Aaron and Noah are just adorable.

I luffs the simDNA cheat. It's helped to explain a lot of genetics I otherwise wouldn't understand.

Date: 2008-11-01 05:45 am (UTC)I actually never really knew about SimDNA until I did the Sim State guide and Polly suggested it. It really is amazingly handy to find stuff out right when you need it. I don't quite get the 'dominant features' part of it, but the rest is easy to read.
