I'll probably do a sim related post tomorrow. In other news, I should theoretically have a car by mid-week. I did go with leasing, and I'm still a little uncertain even though it is almost upon me. Either way, the car should be here by mid-week.

Now for a meme..

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

Nope. Not named after anyone. The story goes that my mother was unconscious after giving birth to me and the doctor cornered my father and asked him what my name was to be. Being young parents dealing with an unexpected pregnancy that they'd hid from their family for about eight months, they really hadn't given too much thought to names. So, my dad said the first thing that popped into his mind. "Angela Marie."

It's certainly not a bad name, but I probably would have chosen a different middle name. Marie sounds much too close to my last name.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

It's not likely I'm ever going to have kids. I'm almost 40 and don't have a beau, so while it's possible, it's not probable.

I've always liked the name Rhianna or Rhiannon for a girl, but my best friends named their eldest Raina, which is a bit too close. I'm fond of the name Madison, but it's become a bit over popular. For boys, I've always thought I would name a boy Alexander James, which is a combination of my father's name and his father's name, the grandfather I never got to know.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

I'm honestly not sure, considering the circumstances under which I was named. At the time, maternal grandfather was still alive, and while he was delighted to have a granddaughter, he was not happy with my mother for marrying my dad, hiding a pregnancy, and having a baby five months after the wedding. By the time my brother was born, my grandfather was gone, though, so he got named after him. It's possible I would have gotten the name as well, and I would have been William Alexander. The funny thing... my brother is Bill Murray. Not THE Bill Murray, but that's still his name.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

Hmm. I don't know. I'm pretty attached to my name. I don't necessarily love it, but I certainly don't hate it. It's who I am. I might change my middle name, but then again, there's something amusing about explaining how as a five year old, it used to sound like I was saying 'Angela Murray Murray'.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?

I am NOT Angie. I am not and have never been even remotely close to being an Angie. I really cannot stand it when people automatically start calling me Angie, especially when I introduce myself as Angela. To most of my friends I'm 'Ang'. That's simple enough to understand from my point of view, but there's always one person out there who insists on calling me Angie.

On a more pleasant note, when my friends first daughter was just learning to talk, she couldn't quite handle 'Ang'. Something about the g sound tripped her up. So, I became 'Oz'. That was one mispronunciation that I adored and I wish could have stuck around. But, by the time she was three, she was adamant that she was going to say it correctly.

I think I need to do this meme. It's so interesting hearing about other peoples' names.

I had a friend in elementary school named Angelica who hated being called Angie as well and didn't speak to me for a day after I (thinking affectionately) referred to her as such.

This is cool. I also like hearing about other people's names. I think I might do this as well. (If you don't mind, of course.)

One of my favorite cousins is named Angela. I was always jealous of her name because I thought it was so pretty. She prefers Ang to Angie as well.

I learned a long time ago to call people by whatever name they're introduced to me as. It's just safer. If I hear friends refer to the person by a nickname, it's one thing, I guess, but upon introduction? Bleah.

Interesting story about your name! I could never call you Angie, so just as well you don't like it! Ang fits you well. Angela is more proper, but Ang, it's just YOU! :)
