I went to see Avenue Q last night. It was made of awesome, even if we were practically as far as you could possibly get from the stage.

A friend of a friend picked up the tickets, and I guess he went for the cheap seats, because we got the nosebleed balcony seats, waaaaaay far away from the stage. They weren't BAD seats, but I had to explain to my friend during intermission that if he could see Kate Monster better, he'd see that she's furry.

Despite that, I'm really glad I went. The performers for this show didn't sound too different from the original cast recording, which was nice. The actress playing Gary Coleman was a bit shrill when she talked, but she had a hell of a singing voice.

The best part was having my friend declare that he'd loved the show and now he understood what I'd meant when I explained it as 'Sesame Street for adults'. When I first told him that ages ago (right after he'd heard 'The Internet is for Porn'), he looked at me very strangely. Now he understands!

Wicked is coming to town in May, and I'll likely be going with this same group again. That one is going to be a bit tougher to get tickets for, since it is selling out.

Yay for musical theater!

Avenue Q is pretty awesome. I saw it on Broadway last year with my dad. We had amazing seats (fifth row!). When they passed the hats through the audience during The Money Song, I put in a MetroCard because I didn't have any money to give them. :} When the hats got back to the stage and they found the MetroCard they said something really hilarious, but I forget what it was...

I hope you're able to get good tickets for Wicked! I saw the touring cast in Seattle last year with my dad, but our seats were way in the back and my glasses broke earlier that day, so it was hard to enjoy the show very much.

If we get the seats my friend is hoping to get, they'll be in the center section of the lower balcony. From what I understand, they're pretty good seats. I'd still rather be in the center orchestra seats, but oh well.

I saw Spamalot last year and I was in the far end of orchestra right. That was pretty good, though I would have preferred to be more centerish.
