This is going to mean nothing to the non-simmers out there, but tonight I discovered something a bit disturbing about Shelby's face.

I've been anxious to see what kind of kids she and Elijah will put out, but I don't want them to have kids in game yet. So, tonight I created them both in CAS and started seeing what kind of off spring came out of the two together. This is when I ran into a problem.

Shelby's face template only exists for young adults and adults. Any other age bracket and it reverts to face one. So it is very likely I may end up with a face one kid out of them who has a face literally explode upon going to college. This is kinda like the goth boy downtownie who has face one until you grow him up.

If the baby option in CAS holds true, then if the child favors Shelby's features, they'll show up as having face one until they become an adult. This could be very frustrating.

Any of you other simmers out there have experience with the face templates that don't have corresponding faces in the other age categories?

EDIT: I think I may have panicked prematurely. I made a version of Shelby in Bodyshop so I could easily pull her up in CAS. The face template problem seemed to be linked to that version of her because when I recreated her again in CAS, the baby button worked just fine and the only sign of face one was in Elijah's nose when it showed up. (For some reason, Elijah's nose, which I thin is the face two nose, shows up as the face one nose on toddler, child, and teen). There's still the possibility of face implosions, but at least the signs will be there from the beginning. :)

There are several templates that don't have all ages. You might want to take a look at http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9028.0.html

Argon has been working to age link the correct face templates together, apparently some of them are in the game but aren't linked correctly. Not sure which number Shelby's face is but it might be in his project. He's also made mods that add the elf face template and the alien face template to the townie draw pool if you want the possibility of elf earred or bug eyed townies to be available. I've added his packages but I haven't yet seen any effects from them since I didn't add them until after all my gen sixes were born.

Seriously? Ugh...come on Maxis... I hadn't heard of that but boy is that frustrating. I might have to go add those fixes to my game as well.

Huh, I've never heard of this problem before. Are you using faces others have made with features that only work on specific ages. I guess I don't understand this whole face template thing.

I have to say though, I've played with the child thing in CAS with two Sims that I considered rather good looking and I got some really *ugly* children. Poor hot couple and their little troll babies. ;)

Hmm... well, if it does happen that way, that could be interesting for us to see. There are always people in real life who look a lot different as adults than they did as kids.

I've married her into one of my families and her kids through nothing face-explodey at me at all. The kid's appearances changed a lot but her daughter was frankly stunning - got her mouth and brow with a highly stylised set of genetics from her father. The twin younger boys are just teenified and have definitely have no hint of face explosion. I think you'll be fine! :-)

Well, I'm glad that you tried it again and hope that it is really just linked to the first version. That does seem to make more sense to me. People who have married in goth boy (or any other sim with the template problem) wind up with offspring that look like him as children, don't they? I'm scratching my head a bit on that. I think so but I'm not sure.

Is loading a sim in CAS and then comparing it to the face templates really the only easy way to identify which one a sim has?

Okay, that thing with the faces is made of fail. What the heck, EA. Anyway hopefully this isn't going to be a problem. I have faith that Shelby and Elijah will make pretty babies. They certainly ought to shake up the gene pool a bit. (I think Matthew and Christian had the same face template unless I'm wrong.)

P.S., De? This might be why you couldn't find Roxy's nose in CAS.
