Graphic Novel Recommendations

orikesOkay you comic minded people on my friends list. I got a gift card to Barnes & Noble from my brother for Christmas. I already have a ton of books sitting on my 'to be read' shelf, so I decided to spend this giftcard on graphic novels.
I'm woefully out of touch with what's worth getting, though. I've thought about Hellboy and Transmetropolitan, but I'm not sure what else. (I put League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Fables on a wish list for my friends who I celebrate Christmas with next week, so I don't want to get any of them.)
So, any recommendations? You are all much wiser than I. :) The gift card is, of course, burning a hole in my pocket.
