Icon Identification
Oct. 29th, 2006 06:24 pmI was cruising my Friends Page when I saw a post done by a person using a Firefly icon. I automatically associated it with Silverselene. It was also political, which wasn't unthinkable considering the season.
Looking back a little later, I noticed there was a response. So I looked to see what had been said. It was by a person who I associate with the Snarkoleptics community. Blinking in confusion for a moment, I tried to think if I knew this person from some MU* that Selene and I used to both go to. Then I realized, it wasn't actually posted by Selene, and it was posted in the Snarkoleptics community.
It's so easy to settle into recognizing people by the icons they use. I'm a very visual person, so I can easily learn to associate an image with a particular person. Even in a person has a dozen or so icons they use, I can usually pin them down after seeing it once or twice. Sometimes, as the above example indicates, it can get me into trouble. :)

Date: 2006-10-30 04:55 pm (UTC)At least I look over all the comments already posted to see if I'm picking an icon that's already there in the same post. Otherwise it would be just mean.
