Oct. 29th, 2006 05:12 pmWow. I've always known Christmas is a bit crazy when it comes to people throwing money around, but I guess the degree of that cash tossing didn't quite sink in until I just read an article over on Snopes about where Halloween ranks in the number of holidays that have the most cash spent on them.
1. Winter holidays (Christmas): $457.4 billion
2. Mother's Day: $13.80 billion
3. Valentine's Day: $13.70 billion
4. Easter: $12.63 billion
5. Father's Day: $9.01 billion
Halloween actually ranks sixth at about $5 billion.
I love Christmas, but man is it scary how out of control it can get.
