Quick Summary: I liked it. I'm going to watch it again next week.

Slightly Longer Thoughts: As with any pilot, they're probably still getting their feet wet. It was perhaps trying a little too hard to capture that Lost-ian quality of serendipity, but with a little time, I think they can settle into their own rhthym and feel. The characters all seemed okay, but with such a large ensemble, it's going to take some time to get emotionally invested in them.

The best part, though, was the ending. There were a couple of things throughout the episode that I saw coming before they happened, but the ending itself got me. I actually didn't see that one coming.

Spoileresque Thoughts: During the finale of the episode, as Peter is on the roof about to throw himself off to prove he can fly, I was struck by the thought that if something miraculous didn't happen in this scene, the show was going to lose me. There needed to be some sort of payoff for this moment. What they actually gave, though, floored me. It was also perfect.

With Peter's brother being the one that can fly, it adds a whole new dynamic, both to the show as a whole as well as Peter's own personal story. How tough is it going to be to deal with the fact that the one thing you thought was going to make you speical was the one thing your do-everything, self-absorbed brother can actually do?

I did guess that the Mysterious Man would be Clair's father, though it is interesting to note that she is adopted. I'm curious if that means her younger brother is also adopted. I actually liked her, despite the fact that she was a cheerleader.

Ali, the stripper/single mom, was also interesting, but with her I'm more interested to see what her powers actually are. What is she seeing in the mirrors and how is it manifesting on this side?

Either way, I liked it. I'll watch it again. :)

I wonder if the brothers have the power of flight /as a pair/. That would be interesting. :)

I wondered that myself... as it seemed like maybe it was the connection of them together. But it was hard to tell if it was just the brother, or what. I suppose time will tell. It really would suck if he learned that it's his brother who is the "all special one".

The brother is pretty much a jerkwad. :) Too self-absorbed to be a hero in my admittedly very biased opinion.

I would be very displeased if they did that, made the would be senator the entirely special one. Though one could argue having a giving nature, and a loving soul like the kid brother does is pretty special.

I think that the brother is going to have the ability to fly, while Peter is going to have some sort of Precognitive/Empathic abiltiy. He was basically able to foresee the flying in his dreams (though he misunderstood what it meant), and he mentioned earlier in the episode that he knew about his brother's accident before he was told.

I can see their powers being linked, though. That could be interesting.
