It’s official. I’m going to GenCon this year.

Someone at work switched their vacation which opened it up for me to actually get the time off. At the same time, two friends who are ‘Delegates’ for Wizards got approved to go and work the con. Another friend said he would go too, so now it’s official.

I’m pretty excited since I’ve never been, but have always wanted to go. I imagine I’ll be quite overwhelmed by the whole affair since I’ve never been to anything remotely that big, but I’m also pretty sure I’ll have fun. At the very least, I can say I’ve been to the Gamer Geek mecca.

If any of you are going, let me know. I’d love to meet up and say hi.

Copnsider this the first of your official "I'm jealous!" posts.

Been to GenCon a couple of times, but these days I stick to stuff on the west coast. Gen Con SoCal is in November, I think.

Have fun! Don't forget to visit the Art Gallery. And don't bring more money than you can afford to spend, cause man is that place a temptation.

Don't worry, I'll definitely visit the art gallery. That's one of the prime things on my list of 'To Do' for the con. :)

I wish you could go to this one too, but I understand how out there it is considering you're on the left coast and you have nearly the same con in your backyard.

Thanks for posting the bit about the 'too uptight to be fun' people in the OOTS communities. I get sucked into the uptight bits too easily, and forget to have fun... and there have been times I've wanted to share something I found fun in the comic, and upon reading the 'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH' string of posts, have completely lost the fun in it and only wish to accidentally use a can of mace on them.

No, a real can of mace, one that sprouts little clerics that smite them with maces.

The community boggles my mind sometimes. A comic will go up that I think is perfectly funny and great for the storyline, and I'll go read the comments in the LJ and there's a bunch of people bitching about how we need to get back to the storyline, or how sick they are of Haley's cryptograms, or.. yatta yatta yatta. It's annoying. :)
