I Will Survive

orikesWell, I did survive. And I actually did pretty well. I’m not sure how many other callers were on the same fund raiser as I was, but I think there were four at the most. Total earned for all callers during the day was about $3500. I earned $1600 of that. I also had more pledges than refusals and overall, my ‘scores’ were higher than the ‘predicted average’. So, I did pretty good.
But I still don’t like it. After today, I know I can survive doing this for a while, but I’m definitely hoping something better comes along.
It also didn’t help that I had to spend two hours between 9pm and 11pm sitting on the sidewalk waiting for the bus to come. It may have been a pleasant day with low 70’s temps during the day, but it dropped pretty quickly when the sun went down.
The nice thing was that at least two people stopped to see if I was okay just sitting there on the sidewalk. One was a guy who walked over to make sure I wasn’t hurt or anything, and the other was a girl and some of her friends in an SUV. She offered me a ride home, but sounded a bit tipsy.
I hope I can find a ride home in the future. I’m not exactly a scaredy cat, but I don’t exactly like taking the bus home that late at night.
Ah well, as Gloria Gaynor will attest, “I will survive.”
