TPK’s newest book is out, and this is my second design project. Superlink Secret Files: Organized Crime is now available at RPGNow, and e23, and will probably be available at Paizo very soon.
This one’s really got me psyched. I didn’t think I’d get any more pumped than I did when Alcatraz was released, but this one has me feeling really proud. I think it’s a good, solid layout that works really well with the quirkiness of the artwork that was done. Oh, and of course, the writing is good too. But I pretty much expect anything JT writes to be enjoyable. :)
My Shoes and My Pants
Remind me never to wear new sneakers to work without making sure they’re broken in. I’ve got a nice pair of blisters on the back of my ankles from these really cute sneakers I got this weekend. They rub at just the right point on the back of my heel. I’m sure they’ll be fine soon, but for now they hurt, darn it.
On top of that, I got some new jeans this weekend. I ordered them online, but they’re supposed to be the exact same style I already own. They’re not. And they are extremely uncomfortable. This pisses me off to no end. On one hand, I know I need to lose weight and that if I had lost weight, these would be fitting just fine and I wouldn’t have any worries. On the other, if the company that makes these hadn’t changed the style, I’d be fine right now. I’ll be taking them back to the store and hoping they have something better, but still. It’s irritating.
My Dad
Dad was in town this weekend. It was nice getting to see him. I was always afraid when he moved out of state that we would grow apart, but it’s actually helped us grow closer. I probably talk to him more now (on the phone and during visits) than I did most of the ten years prior to him moving out of state.
My M&M Game
It’s strange, but even though my game is going really well, I still get stage fright every time it comes up for me to run. Part of me tries to find excuses why I can’t run, but I know the guys would never let me get away with it.
As things stand, the team’s mentor, Spoon, has been abducted from their base, which was quite trashed. In checking the scene out, they found a message that informed them that several other of their associates or relatives had been kidnapped. Doctor Von Strauss of the Eclipse Order is trying to reel them in and finish conditioning them back into good little super soldiers. In addition to Spoon being kidnapped, several other Agency bases were hit, pointing to a traitor in the organization. The team is pretty sure they know who it is.
Now they’re basically working on trying to stage their own trick to get around the meeting that the Eclipse Order has arranged to bring them in. Not caring about subtlety, the Order has arranged the exchange of hostages to take place in New York City, Time Square, on the night of the Lunar Eclipse in eight days. (Originally I was planning to have the meeting in the middle of nowhere, but one of the players asked me if the coordinates were in NYC, which is where one of the other characters had a vision they were going to have a run in with the Order...)
I need to get me a good map of Times Square and get some loose planning set up so I can have them ready for the scene. They’re planning on bringing as many reinforcements as they can handle, so there’s probably going to be a good half dozen characters beyond the PCs that are involved in the fight with the badguys. I may either give them NPCs to run in addition to their characters, or somehow have the fight split in two. We’ll see.
My New D&D Game
This past weekend the new D&D game got started. I’ve got my regular Friday night crew, but Doug and a couple of guys we met at a local con were interested in starting another game. We’re tentatively set to play every other Saturday. Scott was interested, so he came along, and then TJ got word and couldn’t be kept away by stampeding horses. The guy really is addicted.
For the first time in a long time, I’m starting a D&D character at first level. The game is set in Eberron, specifically starting off in Sharn. I’m playing an Elf Rogue who was raised and trained as part of House Phiarlan, but broke off from them after the death of her father on the Day of Mourning. She’s not dragonmarked, which is one of the reasons they let her go. I'm sure that makes little sense to folks who aren't familiar with the system, but either way, Daelyn is looking like she'll be fun to play.
The GM is cool, the other players are fun. It'll be good.
