Anansi Boys
Mar. 2nd, 2006 07:25 pmI just finished reading Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. I absolutely loved it. It made me laugh out loud at several points. Here's one particular line that got me:
(If anyone has met Lorelei, they'd know exactly what he's talking about. She possesses that quality. And at two and a half!)
I think I liked it better than American Gods, but then there parts of that book where I thought I was missing something. As if my lack of understanding of mythology and theology was limiting my grasp of the book to a minor degree. I never got that in Anansi Boys.
Like quite a few books, I kept picturing it as if it were being made into a movie. I think I'd cast Mos Def as Fat Charlie and Spider. Maybe Taye Diggs, but I'm not sure how well he'd do with this type of material.
Eitherway, I recommend it. Cori, you can borrow it from me, but I promised it to TJ first. :)
His name is Marcus; he is four and a half and possesses that deep gravity and seriousness that only small children and mountain gorillas have ever been able to master.
