First off, let me say that I hate getting sick when there’s stuff coming up that I want to be healthy for. My dad is coming up tomorrow for our Christmas, so of course, Tuesday night I come down with nasty cold. Sore throat, fever, chills, sniffles, headache. Yuck. Today I’m feeling much better than I was yesterday, but that’s not saying much considering how bad I felt yesterday. I’m hoping that tomorrow sees the same level of improvement and I can afford to be social with my dad.

In other news, people are idiots. I usually prefer to think kinder thoughts on my fellow human beings, but dealing with some of the stuff I have been at work, people are just.. dumb. Don’t get me wrong. I understand that people have an unrealistic expectation of buying a several hundred dollar camera and having it make all their pictures come out wonderfully. BUT, when I explain in very basic terminology why their pictures (taken indoors, in a gymnasium, using 10x optical zoom) are dark or blurry, it really astounds me when they write back insisting the camera is broken.

I had forgotten that ‘most’ people really, truly, honestly believe that professional photographers snap one picture and get a perfect shot. They never really understand how many bad pictures are being taken to get that one perfect shot.

One of my coworkers was telling me that when he worked with customer service for traditional film, there were the occasional customers who would demand that they be reimbursed for their vacations when the pictures didn’t come out. Oy.

People as a whole are dumb, individuals can be smart. :)

Most people have no idea how most of the things they take for granted happen. The pictures thing doesn't surprise me at all. I'm surprised that you don't get more calls from people that think throwing money at something should guarantee results. :)

I /do/ hope you feel better soon, nothing is worse than feeling run down for a protracted period.

What we do get alot are the people who spent $400+ on a camera three to four years ago and don't understand that the same camera would go for $150 to $200 nowadays.

Oh, and the people who assume megapixel is all that matters about camers. I had one guy buy one of our bare bones basic point and shoots that happens to be 5 megapixel and e-mail us to complain about the picture quality being poor when compared to his 'only' 4 megapixel Canon camera.

Yeah. People imagine that what they see with their eye is what they'll get from the camera... or that the super-bright picture they see on the LCD will mean the photo will be just as bright AND sparklingly sharp. Uh, no. The LCD resolution is low so it's not obvious when something's out of focus, and because it's a moving picture they don't get an understanding of camera shake either...
