Today's Interview
Apr. 8th, 2004 08:03 pmJob interview went well today, despite the fact that I showed up late.
See, when I’m told that a street is across from a particular landmark, I expect the street to actually be across from the landmark. Silly me. Check out this map.

I was told the interview was at a building on a street across from a rather well known restaurant. That’s the pretty orange X. The interview was at the equally pretty star. Not only was the street NOT even remotely close to the restaurant, it was in an odd enough spot that it didn’t have a street sign to indicate where it was. I had to stop and go into the restaurant to call the interviewer and let her know I was going to be late. The bartender was able to tell me where the street was.
On top of that, I was told “There’s parking in the front, but it’s usually full, so park in the back.” There was never a mention made of the ENTRANCE being in the back, so I happily parked out front when I saw an empty spot. Little did I know, I’d have to walk a half a block to get to the back of the building where the entrance really was.
Despite all that, I think the interview went well. It’s for an admin position for the phone company’s security and safety devision. So, there’s a lot of actual admin work, but I might get to play with my layout and design skills on the materials they have to put together for safety lessons and stuff for the employees. The pay is good and the benefits are pretty solid. I was one of six people interviewed, and they’ll be calling three back for second interviews.
I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but this would be a really nice leg up. Cross your fingers or light a candle for me.
