Sick Day Spam
Mar. 9th, 2009 08:47 pmUgh. I don't mind a sick day here and there, but when I'm really sick, I hate it. It always seems to come when I've got too much to do. I've been trying to get 3.11 written and done with, but my brain hasn't been anywhere close to being in a place to write. The desire is there, but not the ability to put words together coherently.
On top of that, like normal, a bunch of stuff for work has come due. Things will be in production mode for a while, but once certain criteria are met, we get a 28 day count down until we're supposed to be done with our part of a particular project. I've got several of these projects assigned to me, which usually isn't a big deal, but when they all come due at the same time, it's a pain in the ass. Especially when I'm home sick and not there to do the pieces I need to do. Ugh.
Even though I should have abstained from playing until I was done writing 4.11, I decided to go ahead and give myself a little leeway. At this point, what could it hurt?

Stop looking at me that way, Louise. You'll get your stories done, don't worry.
For the most part, everyone in the hood was either at the beginning or the end of winter. Like I've said elsewhere, my aging is all messed up so I've had to juggle some of the houses a little bit. Josephine SHOULD be younger than most of the other kids, but because she was born in the story before some of the others, I had to fudge to get her a little older.
I think my order will "officially" be: Jacob, Star, Louise, Caleb, Aaron & Noah, Oz, Mercedes, Hugh, Moon, Josephine, Ash & Ava, Rachel, Zephyr, Henrietta & Irondequoit, and finally Sam. In actuality, Star was born first and Ash & Ava were older than Moon and Josephine. Ah well. I'll get it worked out, even if it makes my brain hurt.
Suffice it to say, I needed to play the Legacina house so Josephine could be the right age.

I also realized I still needed to do portraits of Elijah and Shelby. With everything that had been going on in rebuilding the hood and trying to get everything coordinated, I'd forgotten to do that. (I probably should have had Matthew paint Shelby and Persephone paint Elijah, but oh well. Doesn't matter in the long run.)

Here they are. For these, I basically caught them in the middle of an ACR flirt. I separated them and froze them using the freezer clock. From there, it was easy enough to frame the pose and get the pic I wanted.
I think I'll stick with Smustle poses for the Greek House, but it seems more appropriate to do other things for the heir and spouse pictures.
In addition to working on the portraits and giving Jo a birthday (which I will get to), I decided to work on the family businesses for a bit. For the main house, I'm keeping the furniture store and the clothing store. The venues can be bought by other people.

The furniture store is a no brainer because it's such a money maker. The clothing store, on the other hand, is useful for doing townie makeovers.
Like Carolina here.
In the original hood, I'd never actually gotten around to killing off Allyn for reals before the hood exploded. More than likely, I was just going to give her a makeover and a name change. In the new hood, I didn't need to worry about the name change, but I still needed to worry about the makeover.

So, I set the sims to work.
I apparently forgot to give Elijah the badges he should have had. He was supposed to have a silver cosmetics badge. Surprisingly enough, he didn't screw anyone up until I summoned a hobby leader who spawned with the bridal veil. Only then did I realize he had no cosmetic badge at all! D'oh!

Everyone meet Carolina .. something. I forgot to note her last name. Not that it matters. She's likely to disappear into the downtownie pool until someone comes across her and decides they want to marry her.
Still, I like this look for her.

Beyond that, business meant getting stars. And dazzling. I love the dazzle sell. Miranda loves it too.

"I'm just doing this to make Superdad happy, Elijah-doodle, so don't you even think of messifying up my hairstylishness. Jelly-Dean likes my hair just the way it is."
No worries, M'anda. Elijah did one of those successful makeovers that doesn't actually change anything.

NOTE TO SELF: When setting up the furniture store, make sure that all sales floor couches and love seats are actually set to sell. Otherwise, when you send your sims on a date to bump up their aspiration, they may do inappropriate things.

Not that the customers seem to notice all that much.
Actually, even though Marylena didn't really notice (and bought this entire set of furniture afterwards), a few other customers did notice the nekkidness and gave girly shrieks to announce their surprise.

None of the customers were quite as creepy as this social townie, though. She keeps showing up in my pictures lately. She was at the bar where Dean was having his little breakdown with the guys.
Surprisingly, woohooing on a couch here at the furniture store counted as public woohoo. Elijah was rather pleased with this. I didn't think it would, so it was surprising for me.

On to things that don't involve the nakedness of my sims.
Like Ian. Hi Ian!
"You just liked the lighting in this picture. There was no reason to include this."
Pretty much. It also shows that you are around, even if the family doesn't know you're alive in canon terms of the story.

"Mom, could you hurry it up a little? I've got a bit of a time table on getting home."
"Hush dear. Are you going to begrudge a mother a chance to spend time with her son? Her son that is supposedly dead and never calls? Hrmph."
"Mom, I love you and I'll try and call as soon as I can. But if you don't hurry up, I'm going to be dead for real. Do you smell that smoke? That's me. I'd rather not have to be swept up off the tile floor."

Random picture of romanticness that does not involve nekkidness!
Can I say again that I love these two? They're a bit stalky with one another, but I'm still so glad Elijah and I chose Shelby. Even with the face template issues.
Speaking of face template issues, there's another SSU dormie with the same issues, as Katy has recently discovered. The S4 romance dormie in the pink track suit has the same template as Shelby. Luckily Katy has been able to get it fixed before breeding her in and ending up with unexpected fake face one children. :)

Now for the reason I gave in to playing the main house at all. Josephine.

Everyone give a warm welcome to the child version of Josephine Legacina!
Y'know, it's kinda funny. When Josephine was born, I really wanted a girl in the 'first circle' who would be a girly girl. Pretty dresses, pretty hair, etc. Then Jo grew up with that Nouk hair and the best outfit I could find was that striped jersey. Very tomboyish. And the look has stuck. In fact, it's worked its way into the realm of PLOT.

Jo's outfit is actually from GOS's current monthly project. I'm not as happy with it as I was in the picture, but it'll work for now. I don't like that the collar is smooth and there seems to be a bit of a seam issue on the sleeves. But the look works otherwise.

Look! Something that never changes. Venus cheating at chess!

Being sick, I decided to also do some non-important playing. So I dumped the Newsons down into a lot. They're in the already modified version of Polly's Heirloom house.
I like the Newsons. It's an interesting little family to give people to play with, though I imagine they're kind of tough for newbies just getting used to the game. I think someone said, they're like the Orphan Challenge on Crack. At least they've got a decent amount of money to start with.

One of the days I was playing their house, they got one of the treasured snow days. What did the boys do? They immediately ran outside in their pajamas and started playing catch. Ah, children without parents... what will they do next?

I can never remember all their names. I know they begin with G and there's a Gavin and a Ginger and a Georgia and so on. I'm not sure if they'll end up going to Uni with the fifth gen crew or not. We shall see.

At the very least, I did get them into private school. Gavin was rather happy about that.
Finally, let me leave you with a montage of old ladies dancing. Pick your own bouncy dance tune to play along with it.

"Vaddi Bobo!"

Date: 2009-03-10 01:09 am (UTC)I didn't know that couch Woohoo in a public place counted as public woohoo. But I have noticed that Mrs.C doesn't always pick it up on her radar and spazz out about it. She'll purse whap for a kiss, but naked on a couch in the middle of a club, she's cool with it.
Awww, Josephine looks like a sweetie. I like her look.
Yeah some of the Newsons are ok, the girls more so than the guys. Ginger, Georgia and Gabriella I think? Or maybe you can stick my Gavin hate down to fortune sim prejudices.
Yay for picspam!

Ian is so Squee worthy. I can't wait to see more Ian.

Date: 2009-03-10 01:34 am (UTC)Jo's adorable, I love the tomboy look for her.
Okay so you note to yourself to mark the couches for sale but you forgot one? ;)
Drool Ian. Ha I'm forever having to tell my vampires to leave the stores at dawn they tend not notice that they are smoking if they are playing a game or browsing. Of course as soon as they DO notice they panic.

Date: 2009-03-10 01:41 am (UTC)What was funny about Ian is that he didn't start smoking until AFTER he'd paid for whatever he'd bought. Then he smoked, hissed at the sun and ran for the door.
I'm really happy with Jo's look. I still wish I could have found an all ages version of the squid toddler hair, but cest la vie. This hair style works well for the tomboy look without making her unfeminine. If that makes sense.

I'm liking the tomboy look on Josephine.

Date: 2009-03-10 01:46 pm (UTC)You'll probably get a kick out of this, but I was reading your official order of births and thought that you wrote Ozymandias instead of Oz, Mercedes. Shows you where my mind is...
Josephine is excellent and I'm pretty sure that I'll need to get that Batman outfit.

Date: 2009-03-11 02:41 am (UTC)I love how you do all of your sim portraits. You are really good at capturing some essence of the character in them.
The order of births in my neighborhood is all messed up too. Technically Jade and Pearl are older than George and Spacely but that isn't the order in which their houses get played so oh well.
Josephine looks adorable.

Date: 2009-03-12 07:57 pm (UTC)Such sweet potraits. And hey, the Legacinas seem to have a Marimekko pillow on their sofa! =)
Hehe at the autonomous actions in the furniture store! =D Sims. They always think up something new, don't they? And yay for Allyn/Carolina escaping and going underground. ;)
