This is something that's been bothering me for a little bit, but not enough to really do something about it immediately.
I've been using Pescado's LTWVariety hack for ages. For the most part, I like the way it works. It tries to base the LTW a sim gets on more than just aspiration. It will attempt to fit a LTW based on personality and interests. This means that LTWs can cross aspirational boundaries and in the beginning it gave me the variety I had been hoping for. Unfortunately, it functions on Pescado logic, which isn't always actual logic. Lately, it seems like I've been getting the same handful of LTW's over and over again.
I've been thinking of pulling it and trying to find something to replace it. I don't want to go back to the same predictable LTWs for aspirations but I also don't want to open up ALL LTWs to all aspirations. That seems just as silly to me. The biggest thing is that I definitely don't want those obnoxious puppy mill LTWs reappearing. I'm just getting a little sick of the seeing the same LTW's over and over again. Yes, it may make sense that some of my active romancers want to be All Stars, but I don't want ALL of them to be All Stars.
So, does anyone have any advice?

That's what I did after getting the "Be a Visionary" want for the 55959669th time with my romance sims (Thomas in this case). I re-rolled until I got a want that was NOT the Visionary one. It's sort of cheating, but I was seriously sick of that LTW.

Date: 2009-01-31 12:03 am (UTC)Actually, I did try looking at the code once, since I don't 100% agree with its logic, but I was scared to try tweaking it because I don't quite know enough about Sims code to be sure I wouldn't end up breaking something. I can follow what it's doing overall, and found what looks like all the logic for the decisions, but it's so oddly interconnected that I'm not sure I'd get all the inter-relations if I changed something. Still, it's tempting to see if I can. If I do end up trying and can make it work I'll let you know. (Don't hold your breath, tho, heh.)
