Sim Kids

I didn't get a chance to finish the 'party' before having to get ready for work, but I did get Oz and Jo aged up. Since Oz had a fear of a party, I just invited sims over. It also happened to be a Saturday, so I summoned over all the playable kids and teens for Louise to play with. So, while it wasn't a party, it was a house full.

I actually didn't get any great pictures of Oz as a child yet. I wanted to give him a makeover first, but then forgot to take a picture. I'll get that tonight. No surprises, though. His nose is going to be his most prominent feature. I adore the little guy. Did youk now that he's already got a 9 in mechanical? All on his own, no directing on my part.

And here's Josephine. When I saw her, I actually panicked a bit. I was worried that maybe I didn't fix Shelby's facial genetics and she was face-oneing me again. So, I extracted her and checked her out in Bodyshop. Nope... That's all Jo. I think there's some of Shelby in there subtly, but most of her features are Elijah's.

I like the Squid hair on her as a toddler, but I'm not a fan of it on the older ages. For now, though, this works.

So how are you today? :)

Wow they're both lovely. I like Oz's nose, I think it adds character. :)

I can see why you were worried about Jo, but it's good to know that she is taking after her father. I love the squid hair on toddlers. I think the little bob looks so cute on them.

How am I? I'm good. Part 3 of Punishment is ready to go, going to try to get some of part 4 done too. I'm looking at Friday, Saturday at the latest to post it.

I've also got the simDNA cheat to work in my game so I've had a bit of a shufty at Bertie and Stuart's genetics. I can see me getting addicted to that cheat. The reason I was doing that is when I was making the crowd for part 4, I found it a pain to try to find everyone in my notebook, so I'm putting everyone on index cards. I want their DNA on there too.

Index cards make everything so easy. I split mine by generation.

YAY for Punishment this weekend. I am so looking forward to this.

The SimDNA cheat is absolutely addicting. I do it almost immediately to every sim I become interested in. I currently have everyone in a spreadsheet, but I want to add dna to it as well, but I'm not sure how without making it even more unweildy than it already is.

Kidspam, yay!

I'm writing and I'm hoping to have an update out late tonight or tomorrow. If I don't get it done tonight, it may have to wait for Thursday. but I'm definitely getting there. Also, I'll be sending you a few pictures.

Hooray for kids!

I've been playing Oblivion pretty much non-stop all weekend and then yesterday since I had the afternoon off for a medical appointment (which finishd way earlier than I expected).

Tonight I think I'll rough out my next few chapters and figure out which plotty bits will go in which chapter.

Yay for plotting plotz. I've got the next update outlined and then blurbs on the next few updates after that. My only big concern right now is that 4.10 might turn out to be 4.10 AND 4.11. I'll have to see what I've got when I get it all shot.

Oz the Schnoz! That's his nickname now, you know you can't deny it.

Jo is, unsurprisingly, cute. I agree about that hair- it looks alright except that the bits in front (on the adult style) curl under in a weird way. IMHO, anyway. Thanks for the picspam.

HAH! I actually beat you to it. :) I nicknamed him that when I grew him up to make sure I got his genetics right. (Sneak peak Here (http://mux.net/~ang/simpics/theschnoz.jpg).) That'll actually probably work its way into the story too.

I think I want to have Jo in a long and loose style, but the Squid hair doesn't cut it for me. I love the toddler stage, but beyond that... eh.

Dean looks so happy that Oz is growing up! That is one heck of a nose on that kid, but I bet it'll turn out just fine. Jo is a cutie too! Another little heartbreaker.

It is a heck of a nose. It gets bigger as he gets older, but I think it gives him character. And yeah, Jo is a heartbreaker. She's going to be a lot of fun.

Oh, and the funny thing about Dean... I had to pull him out of the water wiggler to come upstairs for the party. He walked onto the lot, spun into his swim trunks, and shoved his butt into the water wiggler.

One of many reasons why I love the Deano.

Adorable kids are adorable. I like Oz's nose. I think he pulls it off well. I can't wait to see their personalities develop.

Oh, Oz doesn't look so bad! The nose definitely does stand out, but I think that Elijah's features are more distinct in him, and soften up the rest of his facial features.

Jo looks great, too. I like the toddler Squid Hair more than I actually like the Child & up hair.

As for me, I'm trying to write Parts of Day 3 of my Bachelor Challenge. I'm trying to skip around and write the parts that appeal to me at the moment, but I'm definitely procrastinating a lot. =P

I like Oz's look. His nose does stand out and is his most prominent feature, but I don't think he's a bad looking sim at all.

It sounds like you're running into some of the issues I ran into with Miranda's BC. You get parts that are essential for the update, but are a pain to write. Good luck with it, though!

Ruby is out of the loop on squid hair. Whysit squid hair?

I love looking at pictures of your game. They're always so pretty. :)
He already has a nine in mechanical? On his own? Dang. Go Oz!

I've just finished putting together a recap chapter. My only problem is that I'm not sure how to rename all the pictures to get them to show up on one lot/house.

Tis called Squid Hair because that's what the creator called it. I really don't know why she named it that. It's a Nouk hair, which I often like, but I'm no a fan of her longer styles. This one is this cute little bob for toddlers, but then becomes a really long style for children and older. It frames the face oddly, so I think it would make it difficult to take pictures.

Did Pen's instructions help on the renaming of your pictures? :)

So many downloads, so little time. I figured it was going to be a simple explanation like that but still felt compelled to ask.

Indeed. I haven't tried it yet but I'm pretty sure it's exactly the information I needed. I'm not too worried about it just yet though. I want to fully catch up on at least your legacy and Whedonberry before I even think about doing anything with my own.

Aww... Such cute kids! Oz's nose is on the big side, but it's a cute nose with character. =) My foundress' spouse was the Grand Vampire, with what I believe is called "the Goopynose", so now I have a lot of sims with big noses running around. So I've actually come to like big noses. =)

I'm fine, thanks. We just had a big deadline at work on Monday, and phew, we finished on time. So I get to take it easier and even do fun things like sim again, yay!

Honestly, with some of the ways Shelby and Elijah's genetics could have combined, if all I get from Oz is the big nose, that's not too much to complain about. :) I actually like the Goopynose. I hope to breed it in at some point.

Aww! Picspam! ♥ ♥ ♥
I quite like Oz's nose! Although, judging by the sneak peek, it does get big.
Hmm, how would one work this "SimDNA" cheat?

(no subject)

Date: 2009-01-14 10:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] orikes13.livejournal.com
To use SimDNA, you need to set up your user start up file (which I can't remember the exact name or where it's at right this moment) to automatically start up with 'boolprop testingcheatsenabled true'. If that's been set up, once you're in the game, you can type 'simdna ' for any sim on the lot and it will give you a window with their genetic breakdown, both on dominant and recessive genes.

Awwwwww Look at Jo! She's adorableness personified! I love that hair and the little shirt. I want one!

I definitely still think Oz is a little cutie, he makes as adorable a child as he did a toddler and way to go him on hte mechanical points. Do those come from the toddler table or something else in FT?

Date: 2009-01-14 10:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] orikes13.livejournal.com
Yep, the toddler table. If they play with blocks, it builds mechanical. Drawing builds creativity, so it can replace the xylophone. :)

I love Oz's nose. Well, I just love Oz period.

I don't much like the Squid hair either. I've yet to find a sim who's face isn't completely overwhelmed by all that hair. I like the toddler version though. The bob is cute.

I'm really looking forward to developing Oz.

I've been pondering requesting that someone take the toddler version and make it all ages, but I'm not sure where to go with that without getting lynched for saying something sacriligious towards Nouk. ;) (From what I understand, she's really nice so she probably wouldn't care.)

It's funny that you should mention that because I opened up bodyshop to do just that this evening. I didn't realize that I had taken the hair out of my downloads, though. I'm going to redownload and try it tomorrow.

If it's just an alpha edit for the length it will be easy. But if the meshes are different, I'm out of luck. I'll post it if I can get it to work.

Well, I tried it and as I suspected it seems to use a different mesh for the toddler version. Meshes are unfortunately beyond me. Oh well. Let me know if you have any luck finding someone to do it.

Maybe I'll brave posting at GOS and see if anyone knows of someone who's already done it or could do it for us.
