I used to never cuss, but over the last few years, I’ve developed quite a potty mouth. Luckily, I only seem to curse when I’m by myself, so I don’t think anyone has actually noticed my attempts to make a sailor blush. No, what’s caused problems for me lately is saying “god.” I’m not religious, so I don’t care that I’m using the name in vain, but my six-year-old niece says it, too, and my family is trying to break her of that habit. Every time I come over, I slip at least four or five times.
I hear you on the alcohol thing. I also don’t drink, partly because I hate the taste of alcohol and partly because alcoholism runs in my family. I’m always too scared to drink because the alcoholics in my family are mean alcoholics. I spent my entire childhood and adolescence around that, and I don’t want to take even the tiniest chance of ever behaving that way.
