Thompson Spam
Mar. 2nd, 2008 02:07 am(Sim Stuff, as if I needed to clarify.)
I got Freetime on Thursday and installed it on Friday. I poked a bit at the new neighborhood of Desiderata Valley, and it seems cool, but I was itching to get back to Terra Lostundo. Since I didn't immediately install, many of the hacks I use were already updated, or in the process of being updated. So, I decided to play the two Thompson houses to see what's what.
(Included within is a BANNED4LYFE picture that involves a nekkid butt. Just fair warning.)
(As a side note, do you guys prefer the text for the picture above the picture or below the picture? I keep switching back and forth.)

Orlando was the first one to give me his 'gifted' hobby. Tinkering. So, I bought him a train set, which he happily set to using. As it turned out, four out of the five people in his house prefer Tinkering. D'oh!
I'd already said goodbye to Charlie and Vic, who'd chosen to go with Grimmy on the exact same day. That was the first time I ever had that happen. No pictures, because those will eventually make it into an update. It's odd not having them in the house or the neighborhood. They've been such a fixture.

Either way, life goes on and Charlotte soon became a child. Right now, she's looking just like Sophie did at that age. I think it's the Komei face, which is actually quite pretty on girls. Either way, she's a sweet, lazy little thing.

Life continues on in other houses too. Alpha and Beta both became teenagers pretty much right after Charlotte turned into a child. They got a day to play together as kids, and then the boys grew up. I think both of them are pretty in their own way. Both boys are wearing outfits from FreeTime (I think.. it's possible Alpha's is from Teen Style stuff).

As you can see from the previous picture, Alpha's got the 'Stabby Death Nose', but I actually like the feature on him. I changed his hairstyle because the old one just wasn't working for me. I was 'saving' this hairstyle since it's one of my favorites, but I realized that was silly of me. I'm going to have to reuse hairstyles if I'm playing the whole neighborhood Ndainye style.
Alpha rolled Fortune and I gave him a secondary aspiration of Popularity, letting him follow in the footsteps of both his pop parents. It's interesting watching him roll up both Fortune and Pop wants. While he hasn't expressed an interest in getting a job yet, he has wanted to throw a party and gain a "Best Friend Forever".

Beta is rocking the glasses and the nerd boy look. He rolled Knowledge but I gave him the secondary aspiration of Romance. You'll all be pleased to know that even secondary Romance sims still get the swagger when they're making the moves on someone. I figured that someone needed to follow in Uncle Kyle's footsteps and Beta now knows the joy of 'tonsil hockey'.
The Parker/Thompson/Toyanaga house was pretty much where I wanted to see how the hobbies played out. It was interesting watching who ended up with what as their gifted hobby. Grumpy Adrian chose sports, Outoing Adrian chose Music and Dance, Kyle chose Music and Dance, Andrew (Comet's Husband) chose Music and Dance, Comet chose Science, Alpha chose Fitness, and Beta chose Cuisine.
Comet was actually the hardest to narrow down because there's not too much the sims do on a daily basis that involves science. When it was the last possible choice, I sent her to look at an ant farm and that's what triggered it for her. Fitness is also another one that's tough to narrow down. You actually have to specifically tell them to work out, do yoga or use a piece of exercise equipment. None of the sports related activities will do it, since they're specifically related to ... you guessed it, sports.

Back at the other Thompson home, Sophie gave birth to twins! This was funny. I had a girl name picked out and a boy name picked out. Then, as she was about to go into labor, I thought to myself, "What if she has twins?" So I quickly popped open a browser window to get a couple more names. Good thing I did, because they got two more girls. (You should be able to guess the naming scheme now...)

First up is Raleigh. She's an active, mean little Saggitarius. 6/3/10/7/1. She also grew up with that hairstyle and dress. Usually I change their hairstyles immediately, but I decided to let her keep that one.

Immediately after her was Savannah. Savannah is a sweet, moderate little cancer. 6/3/6/4/8. While Raleigh is looking like she's following after Sophie and Charlotte's look, Savannah has her father's nose. I've always liked that look, so I've got high hopes for her when she turns into a teen. I changed her hairstyle to something a little feminine, though, since that nose can be awfully masculine on little girls.

This is one of my absolute favorite things about the whole expansion.. the toddler table. Toddler Table is actually a bit of a misnomer, since children can use it too. It allows them to work on creativity and mechanical by either drawing or playing blocks. As the toddlers get higher in creativity, they go from drawing just scribbles to drawing actual pictures of birds and people. Very childlike, but definitely showing more talent. They gain social with each other as they play, which is a wonderful thing for toddlers.
My only complaint about the table is that it takes up more space than it needs to. The table itself is four squares, but you need to have most of the space around it open or they can't get to the sides. I had a bunny head near it, and they couldn't get to the spot it was facing, even though there was visibly enough room. Make sure you've got space when you plop one of these in your nursery.
Eitherway, it is a wonderful, splendiferous thing. For the first time in probably ever, I had toddlers be best friends with an older sibling that wasn't a teen taking care of them. Charlotte spent a lot of time hanging out with her baby sisters.

Since I played a marathon session today, I ended up having both Raleigh and Savannah grow up. This outfit is one of the ones that came with FreeTime and I love it. While the adults got some very weird outfits, I like what they put in the game for toddlers, children and teens.
I did run into a problem at the house, which is why I stopped playing. Against all odds, Sophie and Orlando gave me another lullaby. While one part of me doesn't really want any more children, I was hoping they had a boy since I've got a good name picked out. Seventy-five hours later and ACR is still showing Sophie as pregnant, but she hasn't given me a baby bump yet. Her needs are dropping like she's pregnant, but otherwise there's no sign. Since it's a new expansion, I don't have an up-to-date version of Insimenator, so I have no idea how to fix this. I've tried forcing error, I've tried using the Tombstone of L&D to speed up the pregnancy, but nothing seems to be working. I figure I'll wait and see if anyone can provide some suggestons, or put the house on hold until Insimenator comes out. I've got plenty of other families to play.
Finally, the required BANNED4LYFE picture...

What this picture doesn't show is the other uncle who was ALSO sitting in the hot tub nekkid.
