Mom's Surgery

orikesMom’s surgery is scheduled for Monday morning and she’s pretty scared. I called her up this afternoon and she started crying on the end of the phone, so I made arrangements to go over and visit with her a little while.
I’m keeping a brave face around her and keeping my worry quiet. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to blubber at any second, but it is worrisome to have your mother going in for open heart surgery. As big of a deal as this is to her and us, this is a routine surgery that is performed quite often. There’s always a chance things could go bad, but there’s also a chance of getting into a fatal car accident every time you get into a car. This type of problem will not fix itself, so she needs to have the surgery done no matter what.
Anyway. If I’m a little spaced out, it’s partially because of that.
