Thanksgiving’s almost here and I’m starting to get excited about Christmas. For the first time in a long time I’m going to have enough of an income to comfortably give what I’d like to give. As long as I stay within my budget, I can buy the gifts I want to buy this year.

This is probably my absolutely favorite time of the year. I’ve never gotten that jaded feeling about Christmas (even though I get annoyed at people who put their lights and decorations out before Thanksgiving) and get excited like a little kid when I start seeing the first snow and the pretty lights out. Perhaps it’s not the same wonder as when I was little, but there’s enough joy there that it still gets me going.

This coming weekend, I’ve got some big projects I need to take care of for the house, but I’ll also start pulling out the Christmas decorations. I have to figure out what I’m doing for Christmas cards this year, and the cookies need planning. I found a recipe for these sinfully wonderful caramel brownies that a co-worker gave me years ago. I plan on trying this out. On top of that, I can start with the Christmas shopping.

I’ve already got my brother mostly taken care of. One of his presents is a signed copy of the latest RA Salvatore Drizzt book, which is probably his all-time favorite series. I’m so psyched about this.

Anyway… Tis the season.

Knitting?

Does anyone knit particularly well? I need a Harry Potter Gryffindor scarf for someone for Christmas. I'd like one at least 72" long and 5" wide, with tassles. I've got a second-cousin-ish type person I can try, but I only see her at family events. I'm willing to pay, of course.
