Weekends

I meant to do a post last weekend after I got back from my little road trip for a friend’s wedding, but I wasn’t particularly happy with the pictures I’d gotten so I put it off. This weekend, my dad was in town and I got to hang out with him for a bit.

Last weekend I had borrowed the V550 and this weekend I borrowed the P850. Of the two, I much prefer the P850. Of course, it’s also $100 more expensive.

Basically, the V550 is the ‘stylish’ camera. It’s a really small camera that packs a lot of features on there. It’s meant to appeal to the type of people who want a stylish, expensive camera, but really don’t need all the bells and whistles of a ‘real’ camera. It actually comes in two colors, black and silver, and it’s companion model, the V530 actually comes in four, including pink and red. Woohoo.

The P850, on the other hand, is meant to be Kodak’s camera that really appeals to photography enthusiasts, both amateur and professionals looking for something not quite as overwhelming as the professional cameras or the consumer digital SLRs. It’s the first high zoom camera from Kodak with image stabilization in it. It also can take pictures in tiff and (Kodak proprietary) raw in addition to standard jpg. It’s not quite a full blown slr, but it’s got all the settings where you can get in there and play with shutter, exposure, aperture, etc. It’s a very nice camera and I covet it.

Well, at least I covet it until the P880 comes out at the end of the month. Of course, that’s going to be a $600 camera.

Anyway, here are the pictures from last weekend’s wedding in Columbus and this weekend’s camera fun …
