Musical Serendipity

I friend of mine recently posted a meme-ish list on her LJ. She took the top 100 songs from the year of her birth from Music Outfitters and went through and bolded the songs she liked particularly well and crossed out the ones she didn't. I didn't quite go that far, but I found the number one song from 1969, the year I was born, rather interesting.

I've always felt an odd kinship for that song. Somehow, I always felt like it was mine. I was born in mid-February, so I am an Aquarius. When I was little, I was almost conceited enough to think that it was talking about my birthday. The dawning of the age of Aquarius. That's me, right?

I'd never realized that it was the number one song of 1969. It's like it was meant to refer to me.

Anyway. Lots of damn good songs in there. Makes me want to make a mix tape.
