LARYNGITIS!
Apr. 24th, 2005 01:49 amGRRRR!
Someone apparently hates me. I thought I had lost my voice before. It was kinda weak, and I'd cough if I talked for longer than a sentence at a time, but I could talk at an almost normal volume. Then last night at 4am I had a really bad coughing fit. So bad I was up out of bed thinking I was going to exhale a lung across the room because I was coughing so bad. Once it calmed down, I didn't think anything more of it. I just went back to bed hoping I could finally sleep.
Of course, I got up this morning and found it I literally have no voice left. Period. My vocal cords are completely uncooperative and the most I can get out is a hoarse whisper that is almost inaudible. I had to write down what I wanted for dinner when the roommate asked. I even had a phone call earlier in the day that I just had to hang up on because I couldn't make myself heard to the person on the other end of the line (they were a bill collector, so I didn't feel that guilty hanging up on them).
The big problem with this is that I was hoping my voice would be back by Monday so I could go to work, but now it's even MORE gone than it was before. Has anyone ever had laryngitis like this before? What I read online said it could take up to a week for my voice to get back to normal. There is no way I can afford to miss any more work, but at the same time, without a voice, I CAN'T work.
