Sing It

I got the call today that my new job is going to start on the 14th rather than the 21st. This news shouldn’t bother me since I’d been warned it was possible that it would start earlier rather than later, but for some reason I’m feeling off kilter about it. Am I that much of a slug that I am mourning the loss of one more week to stay up ungodly late and then sleep into the afternoon? After all, this job is a pretty good one, even if it’s not a permanent position.

Fah. I’m just probably being the stubborn kid not wanting to hear the ‘This is for your own good’ statement. But it’s true. It’ll be good for me to get back to work again, especially with something like this job. Easy, EASY bus ride there, I’ll be getting to paid occasionally play with digital cameras, and the pay is pretty good. Well, really good compared to the crap I’ve been getting offered since originally getting laid off back in 2002.

It irritated me to feel off kilter about that today since I was feeling rather accomplished yesterday. I’m helping with a gaming supplement project where I’m doing the layout work and last night I sent a draft of the pseudo completed layout to the author to look over. Working with PageMaker on a project this big (80 pages) has been a bit frustrating, but I’m fairly happy with how it’s turned out.

See, PageMaker isn’t the top of the heap anymore. I still prefer it over Quark, but the version I have is about five years old and it’s no longer being upgraded. Adobe switched over to InDesign, which I don’t have a copy of. *cough* That’s a hint for anyone who does have a copy they can share. *innocent look*

In other, random news, wouldn’t it be awesome if life were a musical? It would be great if every little epiphany or grand moment of your life were given its own score with appropriate music and clever lyrics. No matter the moment, there would be some appropriate music (and maybe a little dance) to make it all that much more?

What? Stop looking at me that way.

i'll stop babbling now

I would never want to live in a musical; you'd never get anywhere because traffic would be constantly stopped by the dance numbers!

Now--I /would/ like to hear the soundtrack and mood music though. :)
